Focusing only on Batman here - the character is trained to the pinnacle of human conditioning - we get an actor who doesn't want to hit the weights - a stick figure who looks sick when he's Bruce Wayne. His figure was pathetic when we see him topless.

He is the world's greatest detective yet he is chasing Riddler throughout the movie and constantly being outsmarted and thus cannot prevent any of the damage to his intended targets.

The fight scenes as mentioned by previous posters are a struggle. He is getting frustrated by amateur opposition - internet
forum anarchists and basic street goons.
This is embarrassing considering the character is marketed as mastering every martial art.

Pathetic showing as Batman.
I'm hoping it bombs so we can get a different take on the character.

I don't want to see another decade of struggle choreography with a flabby Pattison. Reeves can't get his guy to go through any training regimen and his direction with action set pieces and fight choreography are anti climatic and lack luster.

Don’t know who the Riddler is brehs

The first 10 mins of this movie just gives me chills. The slow motion shot of the Halloween party goers in the streets with the score playing :wow:

Rewatching that scene yesterday and man that might be my favorite opening of a Batman movie. :wow:
The criminal looking afraid at the signal in the sky was :lawd:

If you think you're lonely now, ohhh girl...
In 2-3 years the whole tone and energy around this movie is going to change. Watch. Like, walking out of the TDKR I knew it wasn’t it. I had the same feeling leaving this movie. A lot of people get caught up in the moment, but in time be like WTF was that? That’s what happened with the TDKR and ultimately what I think will happen with this film. :yeshrug:

Gotham has never been this beautifully recreated in live action since the Burton years. The city feels as alive as the cast, you really felt the urban decay especially during the opening scenes. I loved that this Batman was inexperienced and was getting worked, it made him more relatable than some of the previous Batmans.

I also loved the film noir/buddy cop feel of the movie and felt it got lost towards the end with the disaster porn sequence in the arena. Still a good start to the new series. 8/10

I don’t recall many people going crazy over dark knight rises when it dropped. That movie had too many problems.

saw it last night, loved it. Reeves really used the grounded approach in cool ways (the crime scenes w/ Batman working around all the cops were so well done)

I usually think Catwoman sucks on film, but Zoe did well and the character largely worked. Colin killed it as Penguin, he was great in all his scenes. Dano did well as the Riddler, the only thing I didnt love is the playing the videos long form over the news, it felt just like TDK in that regard, and it feels a bit campy because thats not how news is broadcasted. Then again, I dont know a better way to get his message across to the general public better for the movie viewer to feel

the scene with Batman / Riddler at Arkham was great, I was thrown when we found out he didnt know that it was Bruce. The angle of Riddler thinking in his mind that Bats was his 'partner' worked really well I thought, and it gave Batman a great perspective on the work hes doing and how he might need to change up how he images himself and becomes a better hero for Gotham

the interactions with Gordon / Batman were fantastic. they stayed close to the detective angle and it worked super well

Pattison did really well I felt, it will be interesting how they develop his Bruce Wayne more and find a way to advance his Batman from a more rudimentary 'year 2' level hero to a more developed Batman that you could imagine one day taking on villans that arent just 'street level' and add some more serious pop to this franchise

....this is Batman in "Year Two"

I don't think you understand the character or the source material
