They know what they're doing. By the end of S2 you will have rooted for almost everyone at least once. Even Roman.
Still don't like Logan or Connor, though.
Plus, they get you to root for Shiv early, but really she's one of the worst.

I like Roman, and I respect Logan. I’m apathetic to both Shiv or Connor though.
but I think Jeremy Strong’s performance just makes you, even if struggling, root for Kendall
