Yeah I’ve already come to terms with it. One things for sure tho. Dems won’t get anymore of my votes.
are you a 1 issue voter? Because this post is actually laughable
Only explanation is he doesn't know or doesn't give a fukk. This is bad policy - economically AND politically. The president may be unable to cancel student loan debt (for federal loans)...but he can clearly delay payments. He could delay them as long as he's president in fact. Now is not the time to restart.
The WH is delusional. They're looking at top level numbers and saying yup the economy is doing great. Which may be true but given inflation, rising rent etc etc...it's not being felt by ordinary Americans. Anything to help folks is welcome. Especially fukking now, with inflation running wild. What the hell are they doing...
I would argue, economically it’s a great time to restart. 2 years of no payments or payments going to directly to principle is something that student loan borrowers would dream of before it actually happened. Along with low unemployment people should be ahead of where they were before March 2020.
Now politically, this is a disaster and as tone deaf as it gets. First off, extending the deadline and claiming that republicans won’t let them pass student loans reform and he won’t restart payments until there is some kind of reform gives the Dems something to run on in 2022. Omicron is also a great excuse to keep the extension.
