But I might actually see this in theatres. I've heard nothing but good things.
This is one of those movies that plays better in the theater too.
first and 2nd acts were legit and enjoyable,
even if the whole "im actually a trained assassin who settles for a mediocre life being a valet" makes 0 sense. Loved macau fight club in particular.
And the 3rd act started out great. I loved the camera work of the final climatic fight (pre monsters out of gate).
But im sorry, everything after that monster burst out of the gate took me out of the movie. shytty CGI extravaganza ruining what was otherwise a solid to great kung fu movie.

I'm guessing since it was able to put up those numbers releasing during a slow time of the year for movies and being a non-established character. But from Disney's perspective, maybe they argue that Shang Chi's numbers are relatively low because people are opting to wait until its free in 45 days rather than go to the movies.

So…… say you have 3 kids and they cousins or friends wanted to see this together.
Ok that’s like 7 people in your basement/mancave entertainment area.
You pay that $30 or whatever once. That’s it then
But the way it is and should be now, we go 7 kids paying $12 per kid….. that’s already $84 right their.
Then add in a couple of parents at $16-$17 we bringing in more money.
Also now, we loved this movie. Man we can’t wait for the DVD and want to see it again…… that’s another $12-17 per ticket spent vs on D+ once you pay that $30 that’s it.
Someone can watch that movie 200 more times and not another dime be spent on it

black widow did 80 box office, 60 d+
jungle cruise did 30 mil box office 30 mil d+
Shang Chi would've gotten the other 60 opening weekend from d+

All the movies you named probably does better if they were strictly in theaters,… not to mention repeat viewing gross lost

I don't know how much viral load a vaxxed person has to take in to get sick and I'm not trying to find out not even for Marvel gang gang.
I had to go to a public restroom at the store last night and that place was so disgusting, I know I took in virus from that. Add in me sitting in a theater for 2 hours in a red state, and ill probably be on a ventilator by Wednesday.

when I went….. of course you can choose your seating so I sat on the end and whomever bought they tickets left a gap between us.
I also kept my mask on and wore a hoodie (which ain’t to abnormal for me since most theaters get cold as fukk)

Movie was fukking great until the crazy dragon shyt.
Still loved it. The fighting was dope as fukk. Lots of exposition but it was needed.
Not a fan of Awkwafina but she was ok in this. Didn’t bother me as much as I thought she would.
With that said…You know ya boy gotta do some rankings. Only origin flicks for this…

3. Black Panther
4. Ant-Man
5. Shang Chi
6. Doctor Strange
7. CA: TFA
8. Black Widow
9. Captain Marvel

11. The Incredible Hulk
*I don’t count Spider-Man Homecoming as a origin story.
