In the LCD world it goes like this:
1. Flagship TV - probably a 9 series model number. has all the bells and whistles and almost always has full array local dimming which means the backlight is evenly lit across the whole TV from an array behind it. ridiculously expensive in PC terms this is a Titan X.
2. 2nd tier - also usually a 9 series but could be an 8. typically sometimes an has most of what the flagship has except the backlight is edgelit not full array. very expensive. In PC terms this is a GTX1080.
3. 3rd tier - probably an 8 series has some minor compromises on the tech from the above but is usually still pretty close. also edgelit. With most TV manufactures 10 bit panels stop after this model. manageable price but on the higher side. usually best bang for your buck. In PC terms this is a GTX1070.
Once you dip below that 3rd tier all the high end features are usually gone. This is where you get manufactures cutting corners and pulling BS and outright lying to consumers.
