ANSWER MY QUESTION I AM COPING THIS ON BOXING DAY...please
yeah dope site.. imma check to see if i can get a better tv but i love what i see for the price.
In the LCD world it goes like this:Most 10 bit panels out are 8 bits dithered up to 10, nd the native 10 bits dither up to 12.
Is the 8500 the curved one? That is the one I've been looking at myself but I'm unsure if I should get a curved TV. Seems like a gimmick that I see no need forYou doing God's work fam. I did my research for months to ensure that I got what I needed. I got the Samsung KS8500 as I found it was about the best priced to quality screen that had the least amount of latency for gaming that fit the full bill HDR 4K criteria.

How do y'all like this model so far?Ahhh...my bad. Yeah, mine is hte KS8000, which is not curved.
I don't have any experience with curved TVs, but from what I've seen, it's more of a "for show" type thing more than anything else, as one would expect. You can't go wrong with either, if you're trying to decide between the KS8000/8500 (same quality). It's just on you if you feel like you want the aesthetics, and less money in your pocket.How do y'all like this model so far?
Curved breh, do you like it better than the flats?
Flat breh, did you peep the curved before buying?

In the LCD world it goes like this:
1. Flagship TV - probably a 9 series model number. has all the bells and whistles and almost always has full array local dimming which means the backlight is evenly lit across the whole TV from an array behind it. ridiculously expensive in PC terms this is a Titan X.
2. 2nd tier - also usually a 9 series but could be an 8. typically sometimes an has most of what the flagship has except the backlight is edgelit not full array. very expensive. In PC terms this is a GTX1080.
3. 3rd tier - probably an 8 series has some minor compromises on the tech from the above but is usually still pretty close. also edgelit. With most TV manufactures 10 bit panels stop after this model. manageable price but on the higher side. usually best bang for your buck. In PC terms this is a GTX1070.
Once you dip below that 3rd tier all the high end features are usually gone. This is where you get manufactures cutting corners and pulling BS and outright lying to consumers.
Samsung
1 = KS9800
2 = KS9500
3 = KS8000/8500
Sony
1 = ZD9
2 = X94D
3 = X93D
LG (With LG no LCD has FALD and you lose 10 bit after #2)
1 = G/E/C/B 6 OLED
2 = UH95
3 = UH85
Vizio (If you not rocking a P series you aren't 10 bit all their TV series above D have FALD though)
1. 2016 P series
2. M series
3. E series
To be listed, the television must support the HDR10 standard at the time of writing (not including "upcoming firmware updates"), must support 10-Bit color (as defined by Rtings, which includes native 10-bit panels without 8-bit banding and 8-bit panels with dithering to create 10-bit colors), and of course have a 4K panel
Current as of sept 10, 2016I dont know what all that is for
I was pointing out that by the specs in the op
Damn near every 2016 set meets this standard. They just arent on the list because they hadnt been updated when the article was written.
