I’m not saying you can stop opinions.

You have that right, however you’re using a personal preference you have to make that a strike against the movie when that’s not a valid criticism.
And you’re acting like that’s the only reason I didn’t like the movie when I said I look at everything before basing my opinion. :what:

Every person, including yourself, has had some form of personal preference criticism. Whether it affects the viewing experience is on you. :usure::

Jesus fecking Christ this shyt was mediocre at best.

AMC owes me money
Yea, man, I rarely go to the movies, but I wanted to see an alien flick since it’s been a while since one had my interest. At the end of the movie I told myself, “I really wish I waited til this hit the ‘net. :beli:

Killer Gordy. :heh:

Even that scene was so damn stupid because proper animal control and handlers woulda took it out in an instant. Had the nerve to let it be known it happened in ‘98, like if Hollywood was working like they were in the 30s. :what:

Even using the scarred actress at the ranch show was stupid and unnecessary. :martin:

you're right.

even on a fukking talk show when they brought out animals you'd always see like 4 people off to the side while the main dude showed off all kinds of shyt.

no damn way a chimp is just doing his thing and running free with no "kill switch" close by. The chimp would be property of whatever handlers brought it there and wouldn't potentially mess up their bag by bringing an unpredictable animal on set.

Yeah, even when a bear would go crazy the handlers would take care of it in an instant. I believe I saw some shyt like that back in the 90s. How a big ass bear gonna get taken care of in less than a minute but a chimp can go crazy for almost 7? :what:

Not liking a movie is one thing.

Not understanding a movie is another.

Celebrating as if a black director failed after 1 weekend because you didn’t like, understand or both is…

:francis:

The movies black people have been “allowed” to make in Hollywood have been slave porn, magical/helpful to whites movies, hood trauma or failed relationship movies and when we get to do something different that shows us in another light, some of us are quick to dismiss it and celebrate its perceived failure.

That’s what I have a problem with. Black Panther wasn’t a great film but I saw it multiple times alone, with family, etc. to contribute to its success because we rarely get shown in that light. The third act of it was a CG dumpster fire, but I’d never go around saying it at the time because I didn’t want to be a part of trashing something that leads to more opportunities for us to be shown as heroes.

I’ll leave it at that.

When was the last time you saw a Hollywood movie about a creature or monster that centered around a black family business and explored the dynamic of the dutiful child vs the carefree child left to pick up the pieces after their father’s passing?

Not some hood stereotypes running and screaming from a monster with their eyes bucked out?

:patrice:
This. I'm damn near 30 years old and this is the first movie I seen about black people living out on the rural frontier.. Peele gets all the respect for how he depicts black folks.

This was actually good and far better than Us.

It was essentially Tremors/Signs fused together.

How they flipped the UFO to actually be a predatory organism that changes shapes into something that looks like a ship was a good flip on the genre.

It has the most tension and best horror scenes (the barn scene had everyone in the theater :whoa:) of all his work so far and too be honest it's Peele's best film from a pure technical standpoint.

But what is the damn point of making black sci-fi/horror if you’re gonna make the black characters act like damn cacs?:what:

The opening scene with the chimp going crazy was the best scene and would have made for a better movie.

Keke Palmer's character felt like it was for cacs with they way they had her firing off the n word? (this was not a black cast movie) :comeon:

This was a strong 7.5/10 and Peele is now 2/5 (was 1/4 before this)
