Lemme ask u a question. Who Ra ever put on? Lol.

Nobody.

But was that Rakim’s responsibility? As an ARTIST? I don’t recall Rakim ever starting his OWN record label or really having his own entourage of weed carriers and would be rappers. Rappers as moguls became a huge thing during Nas, Jay-Z, Biggie, Pac’s era where their protege’s could become household names. Rakim has always stated in the early days that Eric B handled all the business while he only wanted to write rhymes

Also besides that Nas had Kool G. Rap, Large Pro, and later on MC Serch in his corner so its not like he was lacking for support

"Eric B wanted Nas, Ra said he was wack
Sorry Nas fans but that's an actual fact" - Freddie Foxx

Edit: can't find the Ra diss but found the lyrics, I remembered them wrong but close enough:

BOOM!, now I see DOOM!
To all of these Rakim fans in the motherfukkin' room
Sorry for the let-down but here are the facts
Eric B wanted Nas, Ra said he was "Wack"
Jesus Christ was Black, So Nas you ain't 'Gods Son' cause he won't do the track

So are you saying Rakim just don’t fukk with rappers or with Nas specifically? I wouldn’t disbelieve this as Rakim has spoken out of both sides of his neck when it comes to Nas a couple times where you could side eye it.

I really didn’t like that he initially praised U.B.R and then did a 180 and said he didn’t like it. Felt that was foul

Always wondered why Freddie Foxx threw Nas into that lil beef he had with Ra. Freddie always said Nas was like a lil brother to him so you’d think he’d keep Nas out of that mess

Yeah that seemed mad unnecessary, but Freddie just seems like a loose canon. He went at Cormega and Guru for even less.

He put Nas in it to make a point that Ra was (allegedly) hating on him.
Sure but Nas and Ra were cool again by that point, so it was grimey as fukk to rap this.

It's like talking to Jay NOW about Nas calling him a dikkriding fakkit 20 years ago.

When was that rhyme? Cause I remember him saying that back before Ra and Nas even had that interview together. If he still on that shyt it’s def some sucka shyt.

You know whats funny Beanie Sigel did almost EXACTLY that when him and Jay were beefing lmao

"Someone said compared to Beans you wack"

Beans was extra foul with his Jay shyt, really on some hoe shyt and I love prime Beans more than I do Jay. "Seen shyt that would make B look at you different" is one of the bytchassiest shyts I ever heard a rapper say in a battle.

Damn I always thought RZA met Nas around the time Ghost and Rae did in 95. I wish he would have expanded on that story of meeting Nas when he was 15 and the circumstances behind it.

I know a bunch of rappers used to travel from borough to borough battling each other but i’ve never heard of Nas battling anyone outside of Queensbridge.

Never knew that. I knew Nas had buzz and every MC in NY knew who he was by 93 because he had Live At The BBQ, Back To The Grill Again, and of course Halftime out by then but I didn’t know Wu, ESPECIALLY as cliquish as they were back in their heyday would have shouted him out so early.

I think it was Ghost who said he first heard Nas from some white girls while on tour in Europe.
