At 26:14 Rza talks about Nas for a few minutes. More or less calls him the greatest lyricist. Calls him the Bobby Fischer of rap. Says that Nas was already a master lyricist at 15 years old. Says Nas has a way of putting a great amount of information in a small phrase.
Damn I always thought RZA met Nas around the time Ghost and Rae did in 95. I wish he would have expanded on that story of meeting Nas when he was 15 and the circumstances behind it.
I know a bunch of rappers used to travel from borough to borough battling each other but i’ve never heard of Nas battling anyone outside of Queensbridge.
Yea Nas was in the studio at that time. Ra dismissed him.Yeah, I wanted to hear more of that story too. Not hard to believe though, because the time period he's talking about (1990?) was only a couple years prior to Nas dropping Halftime, and only like one year before Live at the BBQ. Around that time wouldn't Nas have been hanging in the studio with Eric B and them?

Bruh. I know Ra. Lol.Ra didn’t really “dismiss” Nas like he was wack it was just that Rakim had a specific process when he came to the studio and when Large Pro had Rakim listen to Nas demo he was focusing on his own work.

Lemme ask u a question. Who Ra ever put on? Lol.I’m just going by what Eric B and Large Professor themselves said on the matter. Rakim was focused on his own process and just wasn’t trying to really listen to other MC’s rhymes or be a mentor.
