The director actually explained that and it made sense to me. Basically they wanted to interview people that had a real connection. The example he used was Bill Clinton. Clinton was president then but didn't have a connection to the Bulls different than any other "fan" would. Obama being in Chicago during that time does. Conversely Clinton had a more direct connection to Pippen so he was used there. Both being president was later so referencing them that way doesn't fit the narrative.

That doesn't make sense tho.

Exactly what he said he didn't want to do he did with Obama.
