He didn’t “redeem” himself he simply died on his own terms.

Lets not forget this man burned the heart shaped herb supply

Killed a respected and important elder in cold blood

MURDERED a Dora Milaje right in front of her own band of sisters

Attempted to murder Shuri

And he did all of this within 24 hours of being crowned King

Who the hell is going to follow Kilmonger? He’d get no support from Shuri or Okoye or Nakia.

It doesn’t make any narrative sense whatsoever for Kilmonger to be Black Panther.

thank you, Iv seen this a few times, dumb idea

North Jersey but I miss Cali :sadcam:
They’re not recasting . The movie and character is to polarizing.

normally when a studio recasts a character it’s

1. A reboot
2. The franchise is young.

Both Rhodes and Banner were recast in phase 1. Howard got replaced before the franchise blew up. Norton got replaced because the Hulk wasn’t going to get a solo movie and again, it was early.

Recasting T’Challa now, would be like recasting Tony Stark for Iron Man 3. :dahell:

Hypothetically speaking, would you be offended if they used a stunt double in the suit and deep fake technology mimicking Chadwick's voice for an action sequence in the beginning of BP 2 in order to show his death?
Then the rest of the movie you have M'Baku, Shuri, Nakia, Okoye and a new Wakandan male character. The entire marketing campaign is centered on one will become the new BP but there is no reveal who it is until the last third of the movie?

I loved Chadwick's portrayal of T'Challa in every movie he appeared in. I hate that it's come this, but to me, recasting is the only way that black panther gets the top billing he deserves as "that dude" for the next couple phases. With the success of the first movie and all those first phase characters going away, they were clearly setting it up for black panther/t'challa to takeover.

Idk what Chadwick would want; and whatever they do would have to be in the upmost respect of him and the foundation that he laid. Just from the little bit I got to understand from seeing him talk about "Black Panther" in interviews, he understood the impact that this movie/character has on people, and I would think he'd want the show to go on, but that's just my opinion (idk shyt :mjlol:). So for me, recast; but it has to be creative, tastefully done and always respectful to our fallen king Chadwick Boseman.

I think like one of the posts said above, doing some sh1t with doctor strange and the multiverse rules, bring back killmonger and have him take over the mantle as a good guy.
His character did redeem himself at the end of the first one after all
I wasn’t crazy about MBJ’s interpretation of Killmonger (he’s not that believable as a villain) but he would be a good lead as a protagonist. And most importantly, people would readily accept him as a worthy successor as the next Black Panther.

Lupita would also be a great lead but I think most audiences want to see at least a full trilogy of a male BP first.

based on nothing but me being cynical about hollywood, i feel like Marvel is gonna look into this dude Majors who stars in Lovecraft Country, b/c he's black and "hot" right now. I don't like him - granted i never saw Last Black Man in SF, but i'm not a fan from this or Da 5 Bloods - and I just want to say, no. not him.

thanks for listening.

i just picture some fat white executive like, "who's the hot black at the moment?!" but i like to think the MCU is beyond that shyt and Feige would shoot down bad casting ideas.

Exactly. People don't grasp (or don't care, bc they never gave a shyt about the character) that if they don't recast T'Challa, there will be no T'Challa for the next 10-15+ years.

T'Challa led the most popularized iteration of Marvel's Illuminati (a rogue team of Namor, Reed, Dr. Strange, smart Hulk, Black Bolt, etc). And Secret Wars (the next big event ppl swear will culminate this next decade of films) basically stars T'Challa and Reed Richards as the driving force vs Dr. Doom.

Hell, it climaxes with BP using an alternate reality Infinity Gauntlet to fight off a cosmic Dr. Doom in a zombie-ridden multiverse-constructed planet while Reed and both Spider-Men (Pete and Miles) sneak into Doom's fortress to unearth the secret to Doom's newfound cosmic powers.

We gon forfeit a potential mcu-ized retelling of the Illuminati and Secret Wars with T'Challa as the central character? Nah broski. Chadwick is the GOAT. But T'Challa better get recast.

The can have a new black panther without recasting. Let Shuri do it for a little while then have someone challenge her honorably and take the throne later at some point. Black panther is a mantle that is passed around anyways.

Sure, it is a mantle that has been passed around, but T'challa has always been the central character and focus as black panther. Even when shuri took over it was only briefly. Like it's been stated before, this current MCU iteration of Shuri has no business being considered as the black panther as she has been built more as a science tech wiz kid.

Again, we all hate that Chad is gone. He was amazing in his role and had so much more work to be done with this franchise and character. It sucks that he won't be able to continue what he started; but ultimately, we need this thing to continue. We need T'challa in order to truly tell the black panther story.
