I think like one of the posts said above, doing some sh1t with doctor strange and the multiverse rules, bring back killmonger and have him take over the mantle as a good guy.
His character did redeem himself at the end of the first one after all

Killmonger is an American Black. African American. He carries a lot of baggage with that. TChalla and his stories have a special perspective in that he’s an African from Wakanda. He grew up knowing his worth. He has his own set of issues that is unique to that and being an African royal.

He didn’t “redeem” himself he simply died on his own terms.

Lets not forget this man burned the heart shaped herb supply

Killed a respected and important elder in cold blood

MURDERED a Dora Milaje right in front of her own band of sisters

Attempted to murder Shuri

And he did all of this within 24 hours of being crowned King

Who the hell is going to follow Kilmonger? He’d get no support from Shuri or Okoye or Nakia.

It doesn’t make any narrative sense whatsoever for Kilmonger to be Black Panther.

I thought about this interview a few minutes after the announcement of his death, but I didn't feel like posting it. Last year we were all laughing at this interview, but it totally has a new meaning now. :francis:
Weirdly enough, him coming back to life at the end of end game feels more poignant now too. :mjcry:

Too bad there are no other significant Black Panthers in the comics other than T'Challa. Shuri was interim Panther for a short stint though. I hate the idea of a recast. Perhaps Shuri is interim Panther so the MCU can introduce some new Miles Morales-type contemporary to take over. Not sure how though since royalty requires blood lineage. Perhaps Blade and Mephisto can do some soul exchange for an old elder Panther to come back from the Panther Soul World.

I'm sorry but they just gotta recast. Any other option would just take me right out of the movie.

I can't take Shuri seriously as BP and Killmonger did too much wrong in Wakanda for them to let him be king.

They just gotta recast plain and simple.

There's a lot of speculation and his death is still impacting us all, but we need to roll with the few things we do know.
  • Black Panther was the biggest solo superhero movie, so Disney isn't going to let it fade.
  • Shuri's arc doesn’t lend her to be a good fit in the role in the mcu. At least not where Black Panther 1 left us.
  • Chadwick wasn't a selfish dude. I am very certain he would want the franchise to continue beyond him, because he knew the role was bigger than just him. I think he would be ok with it being recast. At this point, the studio should do what he would think is the best path forward.
  • Assuming it would be recast, there's only a handful of people of a similar caliber that could bring the same reverence to the role:
    • Mahershala Ali, but he's doing Blade
    • Idris, but he was Heimdall...(this role was a waste of his talent)
    • David Oyelowo, I don't particularly think he's capable of the physique and thus might not be able to sell the fight scenes, but who knows with the right trainers and coordinators.
    • Chiwetel Ejiofor, he's already Baron Mordo.
    • John David Washington, although a little short...he actually looks like T'Chaka...and it would come full circle being as though Denzel helped Boseman's career immensely. It's akin to paying it forward.
While none of these avenues are perfect, I think having JDW takeover the role is the best option.
Those are all solid choices. I think Aldis Hodge would be a good fit as well. Not a big name, has the look, presence, young enough to be around for a while, and I think he has the range to pull it off :yeshrug:

I couldn't remember his name, but him and Abdul Mateen if there's not in an non compete clause in his contract.

They can just create that person- Killmonger said they have wardogs all over the world-one of those wardogs could be a relative to Tchalla
