The MCU isn't "rebooting" anytime soon, so if you kill/write off T'Challa... that means NO T'Challa for the next 10-15+ years.

Took 25 years (starting with Wesley advocating for the film back in the early 90s) just to get this negro to the big screen... and now ppl propose he be one and done despite being the biggest box office solo superhero ever?

Unacceptable. Can't be that short-sighted

Can't let these white folks off the hook with denying opportunities for Storm, Blue Marvel, Spectrum, etc., all the while we turning the BP mantle into the crabs in a barrel mantle

Shuri dont even need to be BP to have a lead movie. Shows that some of yall don't even like her like that if the mantle is all that matters.

They should not try to “duplicate the magic” anyway
Hollywood is littered with bad sequels because these studios thought they could duplicate the first movie
Just make a good story and imo killing T’Challa is a bad idea
We don’t need another lost relative to come into Wakanda like a white savior movie to become Black Panther especially since that was pretty much the plot of the first movie but it’s gonna be better this time?

There's not even a need for that because the first movie already established that M'Baku would be the Black Panther if T'Challa were to die. That was the whole point of T'Challa's mother, sister, and fiance going to the Jabari mountains.

Plus there is ritual combat with 3 other tribes if they chose to intervene.

The succession path was already intricately laid out and Shuri ain't a part of it. Winston or Lupita are the logical choices.

Which is why I feel like recasting at this point will be what Marvel ultimately does. Creating a brand new character that isn’t based off the lore of the canon would probably bring MORE backlash than recasting. Batman, Spiderman, hell even Blade have been recast and audiences understood.

Even if there were a sudden shift in Shuri's MCU character, you would still need to justify bringing T'challa back from the snap...only to either die go away for some reason after being gone like 5 years. Even as a half measure that sounds horrible.

I understand people's hurt feelings, mine are hurt too. But all this don't you dare recast him or even worse just kill the franchise shyt is nonsensical and selfish. From what I can tell, Chadwick was not a selfish man, I highly doubt he'd want to trade the impact and cultural significance of Black Panther just to make sure only he could play the role.

The dopest thing about Black Panther was that it was black hollywood royalty throughout the film. And Being that he credits Denzel for him being able to play T'Challa, his son, if he would be willing should step in and carry the torch. And maybe that will inspire that Denzel/Blue Marvel film in the process.

I think whenever they do release BP2, the beginning of the movie should strart with T’Challa’s funeral. Have a hologram of him in the after life with the elders, and introduce another relative who his the same age as Shuri.

the way they portrayed Shuri in the MCU, will make it hard to take her seriously as Black Panther. She didn’t do anything to earn it. I think the movie should introduce another relative and show his reluctance to take on the responsibility until something happens to wakanda which forces him to.

they should let me write the treatment :patrice:

So...bring him back to life after being dead for 5 years, and immediately kill him. Insert new character. That's tight.

This is going to be weird.

MCU is bringing in underworld characters like Blade, Ghost Rider and Mephisto. I would start Black Panther 2 with T'Challa is just gone. Wakanda is on a man hunt for him. Following rumors. They recruit Dr. Strange to help out explore the universe. Strange can't find him but gets a lead about a someone that can find lost souls.

Strange initially mistakes Ghost Rider for Red Skull but then discovers Ghost Rider is a different being. Ghost Rider has access to seek the underworld for lost souls. He finds Blade who has a lead on Mephisto who he caught leaving the underworld to kidnap souls. They need a soul close to T'Challa to find him. Shuri goes to the Panther Soul World to seek out the old Black Panthers for help. She intends to go to T'Chaka. She's shocked to find Killmonger! Killmonger was a legitimate king of Wakanda and a Black Panther so he's with the other souls of Panthers. Killmonger agrees to help. Blade, Ghost Rider, and Killmonger ride into the underworld which is a deeper level of the soul world to rescue T'Challa. Strange opens a portal to bridge them through but cannot join them but his cape wraps around Killmonger to join their journey.

They find Mephisto and before they can rescue T'Challa, Mephisto releases T'Challa's soul to be locked in hell. Killmonger is able to catch T'Challa's ethereal hand. Killmonger won't let T'Challa spend eternity in bondage. Killmonger destroys T'Challa lifeforce and T'Challa disappears and you see his spirit fly up into a heavenly portal that Strange's cape is able to open up by spinning like Strange's portal move. T'Challa's spirit is saved but he is no more.

The team has failed but were able to save T'Challa's soul. Killmonger returns to the old Panthers. Ghost Rider and Blade return to their underworld but they now have some new allies and connections with our world. Shuri takes the mantle of Black Panther and she looks rather high tech and a departure from the original Black Panther costumes.
Why the hell would they mistake Ghost Rider for Red Skull?

It's like you got this idea because they both have skull in the name

Wouldn't be surprised if Chadwick gave them his blessing to move forward with a new actor.

With all we've learned about him in recent weeks I can imagine him wanting another young brother to have the opportunity to do something special.

Breh. I dunno. Just some left turn plot device to keep the story interesting. Skull head demon looking dude. Not too far of a stretch that a hero would associate that with the known skull dude before a big reveal that it’s a different skull head dude.

When red skull was in infinity war people didn’t even catch on that that was the same person from captain America 1

then again maybe they never saw it

Ok, Not the best of my ideas. Lol

but what about the rest? I thought i came up with a pretty cool outline of a story that addresses TChalla and moves on from him.

There's a lot of speculation and his death is still impacting us all, but we need to roll with the few things we do know.
  • Black Panther was the biggest solo superhero movie, so Disney isn't going to let it fade.
  • Shuri's arc doesn’t lend her to be a good fit in the role in the mcu. At least not where Black Panther 1 left us.
  • Chadwick wasn't a selfish dude. I am very certain he would want the franchise to continue beyond him, because he knew the role was bigger than just him. I think he would be ok with it being recast. At this point, the studio should do what he would think is the best path forward.
  • Assuming it would be recast, there's only a handful of people of a similar caliber that could bring the same reverence to the role:
    • Mahershala Ali, but he's doing Blade
    • Idris, but he was Heimdall...(this role was a waste of his talent)
    • David Oyelowo, I don't particularly think he's capable of the physique and thus might not be able to sell the fight scenes, but who knows with the right trainers and coordinators.
    • Chiwetel Ejiofor, he's already Baron Mordo.
    • John David Washington, although a little short...he actually looks like T'Chaka...and it would come full circle being as though Denzel helped Boseman's career immensely. It's akin to paying it forward.
While none of these avenues are perfect, I think having JDW takeover the role is the best option.
