Well they knew about this imo
So they’ve been planning this for a while I think
They’re debating on whether shuri can be the lead or not probably

I guess we can put to rest all those "Marvel treated Black Panther like shyt" arguments.

There is so much retroactive shyt we gotta go through now. How long did coogler and feige know? Etc

Yea.... a lot of those post are not gonna age well now

Did Marvel already knew about this???

More than likely.... probably why they haven’t pressed Coogler and co on dropping B2 faster even though people been begging and complaining

Disney Grapples With How to Proceed on 'Black Panther' Without Chadwick Boseman | Hollywood Reporter

Outside of family, only a small group of insiders was aware of the Marvel star’s battle with cancer, and now studio executives are grieving and figuring out a way forward.

On Aug. 28, Marvel chief creative officer Kevin Feige received an urgent email regarding Chadwick Boseman, with no further information. Unbeknownst to anyone at the studio, the Black Panther star had been battling colon cancer privately for four-plus years and had taken a sudden turn for the worse. By the time Feige read the message an hour later, Boseman already had died, sending shock waves through Disney and the tight-knit Marvel Cinematic Universe.

A source close to Boseman tells The Hollywood Reporter that the 43-year-old actor, who had become noticeably thin in recent months, was convinced until about a week before his death that he was going to beat cancer and would be able to gain the weight back for a Black Panther sequel that was scheduled to go into production in March. The actor was even set to prepare for the new film beginning in September.

Turns out Marvel didn't know shyt.

Disney sources say the company is processing its grief and that its focus at this stage is to pay tribute to Boseman and not on the making of a Black Panther sequel. Only a handful of non-family members knew that Boseman was sick, including producing partner Logan Coles, longtime agent Michael Greene, trainer Addison Henderson and 42 director Brian Helgeland — with varying degrees of knowledge about the severity of the actor’s condition. No one involved with Black Panther was aware, says a source. It was Boseman’s wish to keep his cancer battle private.

Many are left wondering how Boseman kept his diagnosis under wraps while shooting a film with a colossal budget like the $200 million Black Panther in 2017 (the film opened the following year and went on to earn $1.35 billion worldwide and was nominated for a best picture Oscar). But film finance attorney Schuyler Moore says a Marvel star wouldn’t likely require a medical examination for insurance purposes.

“Big studios don’t often [get] completion bonds,” says Moore. “They are more prevalent in the indie filmmaking world. Sometimes, the big studios will look to insure for a particular actor, but they usually have a particular reason for doing so. Otherwise, studios will just shoulder the risk [of sickness or death].”

I LIVE IN A CARDBOARD BOX!
There's kind of another way they can do it, what if they did the King of the Dead storyline from the comics, but make it where there's a threat that Shuri can't handle and she goes to the underworld, to try to find T'Challa but couldn't since he was lost in the "snap" but who does she run into, Killmonger and fill in the blanks on him coming to grips with his anger and shyt and have it to where he ends up being King of the Dead from Bast and gets the start of his redemption arc, Shuri goes through the growing pains of being BP and grows into the role, and they give Boseman his flowers with a funeral scene in the movie.

That way, you can have two branching stories form off of BP2 and that's even if they make a 2nd one now.
It's not an easy decision and one I'm glad that I don't have to make. I'll respect whatever decision they go with. It's crazy that not even Kevin Feige knew of his illness until right before he passed away.

As I said a few days ago - they have three choices: recasting the role, getting someone else to take up the BP mantle,or canceling the series. None would be popular decisions and this shows. Damn. :francis:
recasting or a new BP will happen. we're directly in the aftermath right now, emotions are still raw, so people are going overboard with the hate for those ideas, but when folks step back and think about how much the entirety of the film, the concept of wakanda, and the greatness of a an almost all black cast + director meant, they'll accept some new form of BP to keep the world of black excellence alive.

@Primetime Not sure I've seen this mini vid of Chad and MBJ fighting in the suits in BP.

I know its old, but why did they CGI so much of this man's last (solo) film fight scene :mjcry:

You mentioned this a year ago I think, but their waterfall fight is severely underrated.

Their choreography was great.

I remember ppl in CBR forum were complaining that Chad wasn't buff enough lol

I need to find my old account and tell them bytch ass nyggas to try gettin they bench press up while battling stage 3 cancer!

Just thought of something too...

Remember that they changed the suit....because Boseman had trouble breathing in it. :mjcry:

I had to get off twitter and Reddit because they're adamant on Shuri playing the role
Black boys could actually look up to the black panther because he was a strong black male figure. It was the first pro positive image for many of them.
In the comics she became the Black Panther after Doom almost Killed Tchalla. Lets not create that the of vibe here. They are just going off the comic. Nothing wrong with want Shuri to hold it down.

Only problem with this is it would be way too soon to introduce that angle plus Tchalla still needs to be alive.

They will have to recast for Black Panther 2. It sucks but I'm sure Chad wouldn't want us to stop.

I'm convincing myself they're gonna make Lupita the new BP. Shuri would be dumb as she already serves a major purpose. Nakia serves almost none now that Wakanda is in the open and T'Challa is dead. Plus she's too big for Marvel to just waste.

I was ok with shuri taking the role after like 2 films before the passing
But if she takes the role now it would be Spider-Man homecoming in a Wakanda
The shuri in the comics is very different from the movie
In the comics she was waiting for a moment like this and was always ready to take the role
Movie shuri seemed fine with where she was

I've read and heard in some places that T'Challa should die with Chadwick Boseman. I'm on the fence with that. On one hand, whoever they bring it will that shadow on his shoulders. You also have to wonder how will fans feel about it. On the other, I don't think that Chadwick would want the story of that character to end. I also don't think that it should. Seeing a strong, powerful and incredibly smart black man, on the screen, in his own movie, is a positive thing. There's a reason why these white boys freak the fukk out when a white character is made black. Stories, and the characters in them, are important. Stories are part of the memes of society. I don't mean the funny pictures with catchy phrases that's used now. I mean it how Richard Dawkins coined the term in the 70's.

What is her age in the comics when she becomesthe Black Panther because she is sixteen in the movies? That is not believable no matter what happens in the comics, and people not m into comics are why Black Panther made $700,000,000 in America. They never follow the comics to a tee, so that is really silly reasoning. You can scream about the comics all you want, but the iteration of her in the movies is not conducive to that whatsoever.
