:mjlol:With the choice of Doncic or Trae to start a team every GM and coach in the league will go with Luka
For now, let's ask that question three years from now. Luka has proven he is special. Trae has proven he is extremely talented but raw. Not the same. You would be a fool to take Trae over Luka right now. Just like you would have been a fool to take Fox over D. Mitchell last year.

So you're saying you're a fool if you take a "special" player over a player who's "extremely talented but raw"?

I am saying, potentially, I like Trae more. Simple as that. I think Trae can be a superstar. I am not sold on the idea that Luka can be a superstar. He is special, by special, top 50 player as a rookie is a special motherfukka. Not many players have been that especially with special prospects coming at younger ages than in the 60s-early 90s. Special rookies are almost always perennial All Stars. Trae has to show a lot more before he is a top 30 PG much less an All Star.

This threads legacy is trending towards the manning brothers will never win a super bowl thread :dead:

:yeshrug: I agree with @#1 pick. I been telling brehs in the main Mavs thread that Deandre Jordan this season with the Mavs is a better player than Tyson Chandler was on the 2011 Mavs championship team.
No offense, but this is crazy.

Deandre is good at defensive rebounds because that's all he cares about. He rarely rotates on D or challenges shots in the paint, or gives weakside help at all.
He just kinda camps in the lane to wait for the defensive board.

Chandler was tremendous in covering for Dirk or other defenders who got beat off the dribble, rebounded or tipped the ball to teammates on defense and offensive rebounds.

DJ does a lot of shyt like this

Whenever a teammate gets beat (like Luka who gets beat a lot) he just watches their man get a layup/dunk or pull up for a short jumper when he's standing 3-5 ft from them. He rarely puts a hand up or tries to block the shot to make them aware he's there. He just stands near the bucket so he can rebound a potential miss.

He plays ok one on one post D but if his man can step out and hit perimeter shots, its curtains.

The idea that Trae has more of a chance to be a superstar than Luka is absurd.

Luka is 6'7 point guard who can do it all. Generates space and clean looks with his height. Can back down smaller guards. Doesn't get pushed off his spots by PGs or SGs. Can run PnR and has great vision and passing ability.

But he's limited by his flabbyness?

Meanwhile Trae is 6'2 and is a frail 180lbs soaking wet. He generates no clean looks. Has no go-to move go create space. Has shot so awfully thus far that he seems to have abandoned the 3pt shot altogether recently. His body, energy, and numbers showed signs of wearing down last NCAA season as the year wore on and he hasn't started off hot in the NBA.

Just because Luka started off hot immediately doesn't mean Trae will 100% make it up on the back end. Just cause one guy starts strong doesn't mean the other guy finishes stronger. There isn't any definitive correlation. There is no evidence or reason to believe "Luka is better NOW, but Trae will be better in a couple years."

This idea that Luka has peaked and will only play Fortnite from here on out while Trae is in the gym is dumb af.

Everything about Trae's physical tools and game show that he will be bullied and outmatched by almost every starter at his position. He has no go to moves. He's a sieve on defense (that's a knock against Doncic but I guess for Trae we don't really care). He's not faster than Fox or Westbrook or Wall. He's not as long as Lonzo. He's not as big as Westbrook. Don't even get me started on Curry or Lillard or Kyrie.

He can pass well. But guess what, so can Luka!

I'd ask what about Trae's game leads somebody to believe he can ever eclipse Doncic, but I'd just get vague shytposting. Nothing concrete or objective.

Hawks lost. Keep that pick. Honestly, Mavs should send over another 1st from 2020 just as further compensation.
