The mom has blue hair now like in Dee’s comic so is it possible that she already went back in time and saw her and that’s where the inspiration for the comic came from? Are we not watching Hippolyta’s story in chronological order?

Possible. Or maybe she manifested the blue hair to compund her resolve to keep the portal open. Her daughters comic hero.

This show is laughably bad. Yall are really entertained by this?
it's very flawed but so unique. we just dont get a chance to see black people in interesting circumstances like this and as main characters. i do get something from it even when it is way too on the nose or annoying.

If you wanna see a really good portrayal of the Tulsa massacre, watch the watchmen episode 1

This show really focused on the gay side story too much (like 3-4 episodes:beli:) . Seems like it was written in and pushed to meet a requirement or something. :manny:

And as usual it has some gore scenes that are unnecessary disgusting

This series is kinda trash now except a few great episodes in my opinion but I’ll keep watching too late to turn back :hubie:
The scene with Montrose and his friend was so forced. They made it seem like they killed him because he was gay not because he was black :comeon:

2 of the main writers are gay black men so it’s clear why they’re shoehorning these angles

About the gay angle.. Montrose character flaws and choices/decisions as a closeted homosexual inevitably literally births the story of the protagonist Tic.. his homo arc is lowkey essential to the story. think about it: Montrose and George along with tic’s mother being saved by “future” tick was ALL because of Thomas.. Montrose’s lover. Thomas’s death and their attack in that street turned montrose into the man he is.. the father he is to Tic (which brings trauma that shapes him as the main protagonist). The show wouldn’t exist if they had all burned up in that fire. the prophesy or Tic is being fulfilled because Montrose went to break up with his lover after receiving the ass whooping of a lifetime.. This isn’t a shoehorn.. Montrose’s arc is intently woven within the fabric of the main timeline on purpose. The writer is exploring uncharted territory in the writing as far as that arc is concerned. the way she breaks down the familial bonds w/the gay layer. especially between a black father and son. that dynamic just isn’t explored in media. There’s a certain intention about this show. It’s uncomfortable to watch sometimes (episode5:hhh:)
But.. I get it.

It most definitely was NOT essential, hence it not being in the book. Montrose just got his ass whooped by his pops. George and Dora could’ve just caught up with Montrose sulking in the Square when the white mob surrounded them. The gay angle wasn’t needed to fit the plot. And it wasn’t even done that well. Montrose gets his ass whooped so he runs to break up with his secret lover? They been hiding from everyone else, but random CaCs show up and can immediately spot they’re fakkits :comeon:
That’s the shytty part to me: Hollywood’s repeated attempts to try to equate racial struggles with gay struggles. Blackness can’t be hidden in some closet.

They wrote the gay shyt to give Montrose added motivation, but why is added motivation needed? Why isn’t the racial brutalizations enough? Why must homophobic brutalizations be added? You say it’s not done, but they literally did the exact same thing with Watchmen.

You got some with William Reeves family.

I did like that they actually showed the planes coming in and dropping booms on the Tulsa community on Love Craft Country. I agree it was good to see blacks actually fighting back that is a history often times omitted when it comes to us.

You see them trying to escape, but the insight you get is for Williams Reeves when he is an adult to explain why he is for law and order and against mob violence and vigilantism

I just think watchmen was more realistic. Lovecraft had a lot of other stuff going on story wise that took away from it

That said I can’t wait to see Russell Westbrook documentary on Tulsa

It is a science fiction show with time travel; they obviously have other stuff happening. Either way, I am not seeing how the opening five minutes of people being brutalized is a “better portrayal”

It really is.

So many agendas stuff into one show. And it's clear the show is an attempt to induce trauma and stoke fear in my people.

It makes me look at all that's happening regarding police murders and brutality as planned. And that they are literally sacrificing black bodies to achieve their ends in real life.

So yes it's funny to me. Because its so obvious its disturbing.

nikka you crazy
