:what: It was hardly "the focus" of the entire episode... this is why I don't take a lot of these criticisms seriously because y'all really be tryin to do the most. Tulsa was the focus.

Did I say it was the focus of the entire episode? OR did I say they focused on it? Because they did.

That's why I don't take some of yall comments seriously because you can't understand nuance and lump any types of critique as unabashed hate. :stopitslime:

You got some with William Reeves family.

I did like that they actually showed the planes coming in and dropping booms on the Tulsa community on Love Craft Country. I agree it was good to see blacks actually fighting back that is a history often times admitted omitted when it comes to us.

I’m not one to care about that shyt but it matters here :russ:

Throw some gay shyt and and the Coli immediately loses its shyt :russ:

I agree that the shoehorned gay subplot (and feminist subplot) were unneeded. The trauma of white supremacy at work is enough to carry the show, no need to cheapen it with the other issues. Same criticism I had about The Watchmen. But putting that aside this was a dope as episode and this is a dope as show. Really tied a lot together this episode and it was extremely entertaining through and through. :banderas:

It really is.

So many agendas stuff into one show. And it's clear the show is an attempt to induce trauma and stoke fear in my people.

It makes me look at all that's happening regarding police murders and brutality as planned. And that they are literally sacrificing black bodies to achieve their ends in real life.

So yes it's funny to me. Because its so obvious its disturbing.

nikkas and Nuance don't mix. I swear it's like you can tell the nikkas who never ventured out into other forms of media and been fed the same shyt and while LC has it's problems the complaints be on a level of fukkery that makes me scratch my head.

The amount of subversion to characters and layers put on and you think they are trying to scare our people (or are you white which would probably make more sense.) instead of giving us fighters and line steppers they could have given us "yessa white man I'll follow yo rules to my detriment" ass c00ns and white saviors. smh

I was watching this shyt play out like...
:russell:

The lack of nuance with the writing towards Montrose's plight and struggle with homosexuality is borderline hilarious. They go back in time to hammer it home even further... Then they want us to feel more empathetic for his story than Tic's.

:dead:

In the last few episodes, it's revealed that Tic's "father" is gay and he isn't his biological father...his beloved uncle gets killed before being told that he's his real pops as well. That's a lot to take in right? But for some reason, the show seemed like they wanted us to feel more for his lying ass abusive pops because he was gay.

:what:

shyt's crazy.

Also, I get the whole "our ancestors died" for this and that, but holy shyt... Tic's grandmother just willingly burning to death was a hell of a way to convey that message. I'm torn on how I feel about that

That spell must protect anything she's touching or in contact with right?

Atticus be straight up talking shyt and disrespecting his dad:picard:

I mean I get it but gotdamn:mjcry:
That's intentional breh. Mans couldn't have a traditional father/son relationship depicted in this time piece even tho... The traditional family structure back then was a lot more common then than it is now.

Let's make the main character despise his pops because he's gay and throw in there that he abused him too... Like there isn't enough shyt going on otherwise to hold the viewer's attention.

About the gay angle.. Montrose character flaws and choices/decisions as a closeted homosexual inevitably literally births the story of the protagonist Tic.. his homo arc is lowkey essential to the story. think about it: Montrose and George along with tic’s mother being saved by “future” tick was ALL because of Thomas.. Montrose’s lover. Thomas’s death and their attack in that street turned montrose into the man he is.. the father he is to Tic (which brings trauma that shapes him as the main protagonist). The show wouldn’t exist if they had all burned up in that fire. the prophesy or Tic is being fulfilled because Montrose went to break up with his lover after receiving the ass whooping of a lifetime.. This isn’t a shoehorn.. Montrose’s arc is intently woven within the fabric of the main timeline on purpose. The writer is exploring uncharted territory in the writing as far as that arc is concerned. the way she breaks down the familial bonds w/the gay layer. especially between a black father and son. that dynamic just isn’t explored in media. There’s a certain intention about this show. It’s uncomfortable to watch sometimes (episode5:hhh:)
But.. I get it.

Montrose was a gay black boy in 1921 and a gay black man in the 40’s in a hyper masculine society that he had to navigate. That is a interesting story mixed in with all the other great stuff in this story. I’m as straight as they come but why do y’all act like gay black people haven’t existed since the beginning of history
