Not sure what rhe controversy is, they've been saying for a while that the JL movie would be lighter in tone than MoS/BvS. Definitely since before the BvS reviews started coming in.

Noone was hating on those comments then (from the "DC camp") so why should people object to it now?

WB/DC having their "own lane" staying in it suddenly doesn't matter.

I was very critical of BvS, but I don't know how we're getting that DC is so directionless and their film universe will never recover and they're trying to be too much like Marvel from two minutes of footage from a movie that won't even come out for another year and a half. They're not even done filming yet.

There's major hype for Suicide Squad (and it'll likely appeal to a more diverse audience than all the other comic book films) and Wonder Woman looks promising. If those two movies deliver, DC can get itself on track.

If "I hear you can talk to fish" is serious dialogue in a serious movie then I definitely don't want to see Justice League. With that said, I'm glad DC has decided to take a lighter tone
