They gave him everything but his name :heh:

u gotta be a battered kid or have mental issues to volunteer to man the wall :dead:

Having a family name is as big as being alive in GoT. Jon had no rights as a stark and was as relevant as a stable's masters kid in Winterfell. The proof is in the pudding

lol, tell that to all the Starks who volunteered to carry on tradition at the wall...

What purpose would it serve to have them be missing for 3 seasons and return just ohave OSHA be killed and Rickon flayed? That would be anticlimactic as fukk and worse writing that the Dorne plot. I feel a big Stark win coming, whether it's from Rickon, Bran, Sansa, or Jon idk. But they're due for one.
To neatly reintroduce him without developing a big storyline for him all while moving the other more important pieces forward - whether it's getting the north to flip on Ramsay, draw jon to winterfell, put the bat signal out to bran/Arya...nothing points to rickon being some pivotal character outside of blind hope/stanning

So many people in serious denial about Shaggydog and Rickon.

What purpose can my man really serve now? He is going to be used to draw Jon Stark to Winterfell. He is going to be flayed and burned along with Osha.

Lets just hope we dont have to witness the suffering.

Who else could be on those flaming posts in the trailer? Theon is going to the Iron Islands. Stannis is dead and gone. Sansa aint going back alone. There is nobody left that makes sense.

The only other players are Littlefinger and any random Northern lord who may be scheming on Ramsey.

The writing is on the wall.

EDIT: OH shyt.....littlefinger was talking to Robin Arryn and Bronze Yohn Royce in the episode for next week.....maybe its them on the crosses????? THE DREAM IS ALIVE:krs:

I'm not in denial, I'm in confusion. The Karstarks betrayal and alignment with Ramsay makes perfect sense. The Umbers does not. It's completely out of the blue. Plus, Theon burning farm boys is still a secret to most. If Ramsay just flays Rickon, he acknowledges Bran is alive. As long as a Stark lives, his position as Warden of the North is threatened.

But killing Shaggy Dog suggests his isn't some grand scheme to trick Ramsay. I'm just a city boy, but I'd imagine a northerner like Ramsay can easily tell the difference between a direwolf's head and a regular wolf's head which is why it was proof enough that that was in fact Rickon Stark.

In its original sense, a shaggy dog story is an extremely long-winded anecdote characterized by extensive narration of typically irrelevant incidents and terminated by an anticlimax or a pointless punchline.

Shaggy dog stories play upon the audience's preconceptions of joke-telling. The audience listens to the story with certain expectations, which are either simply not met or met in some entirely unexpected manner.[1] A lengthy shaggy dog story derives its humour from the fact that the joke-teller held the attention of the listeners for a long time (such jokes can take five minutes or more to tell) for no reason at all, as the end resolution is essentially meaningless.[2]

George has been playing with your expectations for 20 years now and still got people surprised at red herrings and Quentin type storylines.

Bof of em

In the books its seen as a dream Ned had when he was in the clink. It was him, Howland Reed and 3 other cats vs 3 Kingsguard. So its pretty much the same other than one change: In the books Arthur Dayne (dude with the 2 swords) was called the Sword of the Morning. Not just because it's a cold nickname but because he used his family sword which was called Dawn. Dawn was hundreds of years old (maybe longer) and was forged from a meteorite so it apparently glowed. That matters because supposedly after Ned left the Tower of Joy he took Dawn back to Starfall (the Dayne's castle) out of respect. The Daynes are Dornish and apparently Arthur Dayne's sister Ashara was :whoo::ohlawd::noah:. Word was that she loved Ned and after she got the news about her brother she committed suicide. Some folks think that Ashara was Jon's mom and basically killed herself from grief that her baby daddy murked her brother. The show leaving out Dawn basically nixes that entire story which nixes any thought of Jon being Ned and Ashara's son
Good quality posting.

how? the umbers been fighting widlings (and dying) for ages, jon leads an army of widlings to the new gift, right beside their land. he's not feeling that. as a way to get ramsay and the army he commands to come help wipe out the widlings (and jon snow since he "betrayed" them/the realm) he brings a gift of goodwill. he made it clear he's not bowing down or sucking up to ramsay, but some offer of good faith needed to be made to get the help he seeks - plus ramsay been wanted to ride on jon stark, so this gift if perfect.

he, at this moment, isn't really aligning with ramsay as much as seeking his help, he needs more manpower and ramsay is aligned with most the houses with strong armies

Pretty much. The Umbers hate the Wildlings more than they love the Starks. It's consistent within the show universe. If Karstarks can go against the Starks after years of loyalty then so can other northern houses formerly align with them.

So his immediate reaction is to raise an army to defend the vacated land to his North? Not send an emissary to Castle Black to voice his objections? This came out of nowhere.

Then to align with the Bolton's who have shown themselves to be untrustworthy, it just makes no sense.
