This won't be a easy fight for Floyd for the reason, Maidana is gonna keep constant pressure and try to smother him, Floyd can't fight him like he fought Hatton and De la Hoya because a ugly fight favors Madaina and we know how these Judges be coming. Floyd is gonna have to keep his hands going the whole fight, and those hands been giving
Him trouble, you see him taking off rounds on the low to rest them.....But Floyd is getting better I love when he starts the fight off walking a mofo down right there he be mentally crushing them, only thing stopping this from being a easy fight is his hands

No disrespect but you do realize each of the last 6-7 opponents Floyd has faced has said the same thing in the build up to the fights " he hasn't seen pressure like this" "nothing can stop us from coming forward" "we will attack the entire fight". And the result is the same everytime, they come forward and Floyd doesn't run like they have anticipated their entire training. He sits in the pocket and they get the :merchant: look after he pops them in the mouth with counters and straight rights. By the fourth round they don't want to let their hands fly anymore because they are humiliated. It really is amazing how good he is.

:what:

Floyd's gonna beat him 120-108......shut out.

:whew: I'm going with 118-110

hatton & guerrero were both "pressure" fighters who would "smother" opponents :comeon:

Agreed

Yeah, I noticed a few posters said this and I don't know why.
To me it makes a ton of sense. There is little "drama" left in marketing Floyd. Having him going for the lineal MW title would be huge. The odds are against him fighting a decent sized MW, if Cotto were to win, Floyd would be comfortable with his size.
Also many view Floyd as having no real competition out there and many believe Cotto gave his toughest recent fight.
Plus Cotto has a built in fan base.

Floyd's option are not perfect because he shuts out the competition. This one has legs IMO. It would get good numbers and something new for Floyd to sell. Doesnt mean i think it is his toughest opponent...just that this is probably his best option for "biggest event".

He was in the corner with Chico when Floyd put the beats on him.

What is also interesting about this fight is that this is the first fight that Rafael Garcia worked in Floyd's corner. Floyd's previous cutman has to be kicking himself in the ass given the career Floyd has had.

http://www.mlive.com/mayweather/index.ssf/2012/05/floyd_mayweather_cut_man_rafae.html

Miguel Diaz was cut man until Mayweather fought the late Diego Corrales in 2001. Diaz also worked as Corrales' assistant trainer. He earned two percent of Mayweather's purses and five percent of Corrales'. Mayweather earned $1.7 million and Corrales $1.4 million for that fight.

Diaz had to choose between making $70,000 with Corrales or $34,000 with Mayweather, with one additional caveat: Mayweather told him they would part ways amicably, but never work together again, if he chose Corrales.
Diaz said he believed his greater commitment was Corrales, and chose to work with him, a decision that has cost him a low-seven-figure total over the last 11 years.

one thing is for sure maidana is the best true pressure fighter floyd has fought in his career (carlos hernandez, jesus chavez, ricky hatton, and carlos baldomir and jose luis castillo who were more boxer punchers) so that there is different and maidana is much better than a jesus chavez or ricky hatton. i have been listening to floyd speak lately and he is starting to drag his words he sounds like he is starting to get punchy which is a bad sign at 37 years old. i'm a big floyd fan but i am expecting a hard fight for floyd..

One thing that Floyd can never be accused of is articulate. However, Marcos will be in the ring thinking by the fourth round and that will signal that the fight is basically over for all extents and purposes. This will be quite easy for him.

i know that. but floyd has never dragged his words before. james toney and pernell whitaker have that same drag thats when you know when a fighter is starting to slur.watch floyd against fighters like baldomir and hatton i can tell you this fight will not be easy. hes going to have to work maidana will be on his chest.

Initially, it will probably looking like Jesus Chavez fight where he just basically put his head in Floyd's chest and swung away. I give that a few rounds. However, since Floyd has been out the joint, he's taken the fight to his opponent. He was backing up Canelo, who was at least 15 pounds on him. Canelo is faster, stronger and is flat out better than Maidana. Floyd is going to take the fight to him with the high guard and all those wide punches will be met with a straight punch to the face.

canelo is bigger, stronger, faster, and threw 8 punches a round. canelo looked like he was more worried about messing up his hair than trying to fight floyd and i dont think thats going to be the case with marcos maidana. you might be right about it looking a lot like the jesus chavez fight. my thinking on this is that its going to look a little something like either that chavez fight or the hatton fight. but maidana is a better fighter than chavez and hatton.
