This movie is complete Warner brothers vertigo elseworld young adult ya novel adaptive film house trash.
Plus it suffers from not understanding the property.
While not understanding how to create a sci fi blockbuster franchise.

It is horrifically plague by horrific miscasting.
Bullshyt makeup and an inability to understand the good and bad of the past renditions. Then adapt it to make it a blockbuster with licensing vehicle based legs for children. Just like the first one failed to do. This movie is just as epic bad as the avatar adaptation.

Just horrifically let down.
As my rap career is based just like wu tang from relating thia material to current life and grounding it. Hence my original rap name of moad'dib or moad for short. Featured on horaeson jae's final four.
Just low marks abound.
On a movie that fails to be put into a modern film idea.
of how this source material could work.

It is horrible.
How it also tries to spreadsheet marvel blockbuster tropes crammed into the film as well.
Everything about this movie is poorly fabricated. From the ornithopter to las gun to hunter seeker to shields to still suit. Even the scale of the worms and reveal suffers. Especially when put incomparison to the much superior original. Whether you go for rhe original theatrics or director cut release.
Every thing about this movie eliminates any drawing legs. By YA novel take in this material.
Not to mention never establishing anything that illustrates.
why the fukk we ever were in arrakis to begin with.

The more i think about how trash it is.
It infuriates me.

Not to mention.
It never fixes the facts of bad about the original. It simply out does it in lower quality. Incomparison to The original film dune.
Originally which was called the slowest dragging movie of all time.
Yet this movie is slower and in that. Never effectively uses its time like the original. The original showed you every aspect it could visually. While compressing in everything it could to attempt to be epic. While attempting to movie magic at a much higher clip and quality marker.
Than this new movie with modern technology.
Everything is underwhelming about this movie and it feels lower in quality and execution than both the original film and tv adaptations combined. I hated the tv adaptation because of cheap casting and trash execution. On material to far out of scope in procurement for tv to handle in basic premise. Yet this film manages to make a lower quality presentation based piece on the big screen.

Great effort, but that's not what these people are saying at all.

This entire thread (and all the other buzz) are loaded with people talking about 2nd/3rd watches and really wanting to read the books. That doesn't fly for a movie that supposedly "nothing happened feels impactful." As a book fan I can't speak for the people who didn't know the story coming in, but plenty of them been speaking for themselves just fine. If you think more world-building character-development was needed I get you, but if you claim the movie was too long and dragged then you on that attention span bullshyt and this wasn't meant for you.

You probably came in wanting to see a string of fight scenes. I bet you liked Infinity War. :lolbron:

I did enjoy Infinity War. I wasn't looking for nonstop action but the world they built felt shallow and I didn't care about the characters. Some people want to read the books to get more depth out of the story because they found the framework that the movie set up interesting but not a complete story. The movie was missing something and wasn't good enough to stand on its own.

The scene where Paul had the vision of the holy war, the shot of them in the ship looking down is :wow:

I’ve seen this 3 times in imax, may do one more before it’s gone for good.

I watched this because i was told this was the godfather or OG of modern science fiction and everybody borrowed or stole from it in some capacity

kinda like what Lord of the rings did for high fantasy dungeons and dragons type shyt
and with that being said........

This shyt was boring as fukk:mjlol:
I see why George Lucas added Space wizards with laser swords and magic powers to his space opera lmao:russ:
This shyt is like the Tattooine part of star wars.....except it lasts for 3 fukking hours!

i was beautifully shot, decently acted and all that, but for a Epic space movie, it had no interesting weapons or technology/aliens........it was Just fukking Bland man.:francis:

So, I knew nothing going in and from the explanation it came off to me like it was just needed for space travel. I basically saw it as an allegory for oil, and was expecting a generic plot line around that. I was glad it turned into something more interesting…but that was still basically my understanding of spice. Space oil.
Just watched Dune -never read the books- and I thought the spice was space oil as well but I did a little research on it cause the film did a piss poor job at explaining what makes spice so valuable. But from what I've read certain individuals or beings turn it into a gas and basically get high off the shyt and this helps them navigate during space travel. I believe it has healing medicinal purposes also.

It was entertaining, great visuals, but weird asf too me. A rushed plot and of course it would be ten times better as a series but more than likely the price per episode would be way too expensive to pull off. The sheltered rich boy and his magical mom(forgot their names) washing the Fremen with ease in the battles at the end was wack to me. I hate seeing shyt like that but I'm down for a part two if they make one

Better to reign in Hell than serve in Heaven

This made me think of Star Wars for some reason.. Understand this dude wants to do a 3 part movie. Each of these fukkers like 3 hours long. And when you think of Star Wars, you gotta realize 99% of the universe, wasn't built in Episode 4. Most of Star Wars, if we keeping it 100, was built through books. But really the whole Jedi, who they were, the history, didn't get fully explained until Yoda in Episode 5. Then not FULLY explained until Episode 6. Millions of books were released and that's when we got all the Knights of old and a bunch of other people and stories I don't even know. They built some more with 3 more prequels.. Then more books.

So everything we're watching is 3 hours out what he wants to be 9 or more..

Can some1 explain to me why future tech nikkas with spaceships, levitation, magic and interstellar travel are fighting war by melee combat and swords?

Also why can't they just set traps for the worms and nuke them? Eradicate the planet of those fukkers?

1. Because of the personal energy shields everyone has, guns and such don't work. It wasn't explained in the movie but you basically have to get close and personal to slip a weapon through.

2. the worms create the spice, no more worms, no more spice

Haven't seen the new Dune yet but RIP to Dean Stockwell of Quantum Leap fame.

He was in the original Dune when he played Dr. Wellington Yueh.
