It's a good movie but I wonder will people have the attention span,to keep up.

I think it was just some permiter thing? You can still see some of the ships shields flicker as missiles go through them though. Like when the Atreides dudes are running out and Gurney says to get everything with guns in the air.

Those were Atreides ships, they have their own shield. Yueh took out the cities shield wall.

Yeah they said that Dune don't got it's own satellite system either so in many ways they were sitting ducks..

knowing nothing about the books I appreciated how well made the movie was, but had a hard time caring about the characters. All the slow motion staring and walking through the desert started to lose me.

This was by far the most surprising aspect about the movie for me.

What I love about Vileneuve's films is how emotionally engaging they are (teared up on a few occasions) but felt little to nothing here. Very disappointed to say the least.

I've seen everything going back to Polytechnique, and loved every one of them. This... not so much

Great viewing at the IMAX. plenty of Islamic /sufi references I got.
This film was similar to the lynch version.

Yeah, I didn't realize it (because I already knew the story) but now that I see people questioning the shields I'm wondering if they should have explained just a little more.
For example, if you already know how the shields work when you see the shields flash "red" you know that it is because something moving slowly is going through the shield. But, if you didn't know any better you might think that "red" means that the shield is losing power or something.

Yea I was confused the father I assumed he got shot in the back and was dead the way he’s body went red. So when we see red they’re moving at a certain speed to penetrate through the shield?
