Plenty happened.. but there's a lot of setup in there too.. it's a two parter

So you didn't see the bright blue, glowing body shields that stop projectiles and make guns almost useless?

The force field armor specially stops anything that moves above a certain speed (otherwise you wouldn't be able to touch anything or interact with ordinary objects nor could you launch your own attacks because nothing could escape your own armor). Thus it stops bullets and shyt and pretty much all projectiles other than very specially designed ones. In hand-to-hand combat it can only be penetrated if a trained fighter uses special technique of slowing down his blow to the correct speed just before he penetrates the armor, which is obviously very difficult because slow down too soon and the opponent dodges the blow, but fail to slow down enough and your blow bounces uselessly off the armor.

Jessica overtaking Stilgar when they were at the brink of death, but with Chani shadowing Paul from behind

Featured cast that were killed on screen, all in separate incidents: Shadout Mapes, Dr. Yueh, Duke Leto, Piter De Vries, Duncan Idaho, Liet-Kynes, and Jamis.

That's just the major events, not counting the training, strategizing, character building, diplomatic shyt, and Paul's dreams and visions of the future. Yeah, other than that, nothing happened.

My coworker filled me in on a lot of the backstory (bloodlines) he learned reading the books and my mind was pretty blown. shyt is Game of Thrones deep. I started the first book and dig it so far.

See this in the theater, breh. I saw this in Dolby Cinema at a huge theater (IMO better than IMAX, I don't care what anybody says), and then came home and watched it on my nice home setup and it's different. Still a good movie, but alot of shots I could see didn't have the same amount of detail in the frame, because I remembered the scenes from 3-4 hours earlier in the cinema.

Dolby is the goat…

During the scene when Duncan Idaho got killed guarding the door, was that supposed to be a "LasGun" that they were using to melt through the door?

Did the movie ever actually bring up that shooting a shield with a LasGun cases a mini nuclear explosion?

I think it was and no the movie didn’t go into that although it’s certainly important.

Denis definitely wanted you to infer shyt, like if you think back to the scene where harkonnens ambush the city, you can see they're using special missiles that penetrate the ship shieldings before exploding. Movie opens with fremen using them against harkonnen spice harvesters too.
