If HBO was smart, they would have done a show-- but let the first "episode" be an actual movie. So imagine this was the first episode, they show it in theaters as well. They could make that a thing at the beginning of every season. But these execs aren't that forward thinking. Folks would subscribe and watch it at home, but still go to the theater for the silver screen experience. Dummies.
:ohhh: you might have to go send them boys an email to pitch this:wow:

Killer ideea but not that doable because of budget. Besides from the scenario and special effects/cgi, I don't see them being able to make contracts good enough to make the Movie stars do Shows.

Sure it's doable. People will accept slightly lower quality for the non season premiere episodes. You can even do an end season marathon in theaters and triple dip for profits. We've seen people will pay for these "shared" fan experiences with the Marvel movies. They're just not thinking outside the box and taking risks. In five more years the home theater experience will have become cheap enough and high enough in quality where they're going to have to figure out something to get enough people in theaters. When everyone has a 100" 8K screen with a Dolby Atmos setup and can enjoy a movie from their couch with a blunt, how do you compete with that? Theaters can only survive if people are in there buying concessions.

iirc the syfy dune miniseries' were received pretty well, the thing that hurt them is they just didnt have the budget to do it right. With the kinda money they threw at GoT (something like 8-10 mill per episode at its peak) you could do it justice now.

They actually are making a Dune show on HBO max, I know it’s not exactly what you meant but they are, it’s called Dune: Sisterhood about the Bene Gesserit
