Like I pointed out earlier this season, the writing is extremely lazy in favor of convenience. It's convenient for them to dismiss things on a whim.

If Steve Wynn (owns casinos like Hannahs dude did) went missing it would be HUGE news. The Feds would be involved, there would be a power struggle over the estate and the casinos. It would rock the economy of Vegas and tourism in general. Yet everyone is either oblivious or careless.

Zach's dad is a millionaire and I bet it never comes up that he went missing.

They just toss characters and storylines to the side when they're ready to and introduce and reintroduce characters like a dog owner dropping a chew toy in front of a puppy. There's not even anything at stake for the characters that are left. I don't care if Zach died, or Vogel dies. The characters that are left from previous seasons should have been dead or dealt with seasons ago.

Usually by now, with any good Dexter season, it felt like the walls were closing in and anything could happen. Anyone could find out, the feds could pounce on him, someone could find out, anyone could die. Now it just feels like Dexter is invincible and immune to punishment. And it's not a cool "Dexter is invincible and immune to punishment" because the writers made us feel this way, yet Dexter could still be in trouble or go down at any second. That would be cool. The way that they've gone about making Dexter invincible and immune to punishment is by dumbing down every single character and aspect of this TV show to where he is operating on a very animalistic young-adult level and everyone else is fukking 10 years old.

From a Dexter Wiki page about Hannah's dude:
  • His net worth is over $700 million, likely making him the "wealthiest" kill in the series. Unfortunately, Dexter did not perform the kill, though his act of dissappearing the body would likely prevent authorities from finding out that he's dead, let alone catching his killer, i.e. Hannah.
COME ON!

Dude is richer than Jay-Z. You're telling me if Jay-Z went missing everyone would be like "Oh that sucks. Heard he got lost in Miami somewhere. shyt happens."

At this point we're talking about a span of days, where only Hannah and his security are aware that he went on a "trip" to New York, so there's no element of him missing. The comparison really isn't fair considering there is no evidence that would point to him missing - he's a business man, on a business trip, where the only additional parties are, as they said "paid not to ask questions". We won't see the fallout of anyone wondering where he is because the time difference is probably no more than a week or two in the timeline of the show.

As for Zach, a missing person's report has already been introduced. How much time will be given to that? Who knows. Considering Quinn is still on a rampage about dude and the family is looking for him, I wouldn't be surprised if it's addressed and ends up being an issue.

There are certainly "convenience" issues, but I wouldn't bring up either of these two things as something to highlight.

Decent episode. Oliver is the BS, being Vogel's son was a nice little twist in the continued parallels between Big Bad's and Dexter. Looks like we'll finally get some tension in these final 3 episodes with things starting to close in on Dex. I see some dramatic ass kills coming. That Marshall dude seems official as hell already, he's gonna be a problem. Not sure how this will all end.

Ok you think a businessman worth 700 million who runs several companies wouldn't be missed? He has to be accounted for at all times, the company stock could plummet so no matter where he is there had to be contact. Lets say he goes missing the staff would be suspected of foul play. I'm sure they know that.

Who said that? You're speaking about a span of, in show time, MAYBE 3-4 days during his VACATION. There is no reason for anyone to think he's "missing" because his companies are of the belief he's on vacation - only his security knows he "went" to NY and they are "paid not to ask questions" and are likely not going to be answering any, either. If he's on vacation, it's safe to assume he's left others in charge of the day to day activities so things run smoothly. Dude flat out told Hannah he was going to just go away with her again and never return, which might speak to the type of business man he is - just leaving it all without a fukk to give.

Stop acting like it's been months away without raising any eyebrows. His being "missing" was also addressed since they said there is no record of him being in NY, so the ground work for it being a loose end to be connected back to Hannah/Dexter is there. There's no reason, CURRENTLY, to believe this won't be addressed further. He's tied to the woman and fugitive Dexter is currently with and in the preview Dexter can be seen hemming Elway up. Let the shyt rock.

So the endgame is here...a chess match between Dexter and this Vogel son back from the dead? Hmmmm.....him getting a nice cozy ending away is not gonna happen. Someone is going down..Hannah, Deb, or Dexter, and it will probably be Harrison in a pool of blood at some point.
