I do t think I’ve ever seen a special that basically sticks to one or two topics for the duration of the special. It’s like an expanded version of John Oliver’s Last Week Tonight format.

I can see gays getting mad, but objectively, yeah he roasted them and his views are not as woke as some people might demand(you can never be woke enough anyway), but he closed it on a very empathetic human to human note. He even offered the community an olive branch.

He basically made a whole set just to prove a point.
1- He could cash Netflix checks while going at the 1 group that is 'untouchable' these days
2- That the narrative and discussion around lgbtq has been disingenuous and suspect for years
3- that for some reason women and the lgbt community can make huge progress in their agendas in short time but for some odd reason black folks are still struggling. Point being that RACISM is still the most prevalant of all the isms. He's indirectly declaring black folks the undisputed winners (losers?) of the oppression olympics.

He kinda pointed that out when he was like “just when you have em on the ropes…“I’m a girl, ni**er.”
Dave was smart using the Clifford analogy too because everyone was laughing at that, but get uncomfortable about the LGBT jokes. I’m actually surprised they didn’t try to call him a anti-Semite for the “space Jews.” The only article I’ve seen said something about punching down when it comes to gays.

This special was cool. Dave is God on The Coli though so obviously the views here are slanted. He’s not really in the same lane as most other comics at this point, but I can’t say that Dave’s specials over the last half decade or so have been at a higher level than the other well known comics.
