Official Dave Chappelle: The Closer Thread

I just got back from DC Improv where Godfrey was performing. He killed it by the way. His opener and feature were funny as hell too.

What dawned on me watching the opener and feature kill and Godfrey kill in spurts, but sit in the pocket, is the opener and feature were both playing their hit singles from beginning to end because they only have 15-20 minutes tops. But Godfrey had to play singles and album cuts because his set was 1 hour and 15 minutes long.

What’s crazy is Dave is playing ALL album cuts in the last two specials. He might give you a single with a Kevin Hart or Jussie Smulliet joke, but the rest of the special is all album cuts.

That’s why all the comedians praise him so much. They see what the consumer doesn’t see. He’s winning while playing nothing but album cuts.

I hope this makes sense. I’m kind of tipsy right now.

I feel you on this. I saw Micheal Blackson a few years back. The first 30 minutes was flames. The next 45 minutes was straight mid. IT was like listening to a double disk that would have been doper if it was a single disc. Like Blueprint 2.5

So why didn’t these fake outragers go at Larry David for his tranny joke in Curb?

Episode 3 of season 10, Larry confronts a trans woman and asks her a question regarding organ donation. He asks if he can donate his penis to a trans woman (if he dies, of course).

I haven’t seen DC’s special yet, but how is this joke different from Dave’s comedy? Both are jokes.

Such a masterful troll job. He dissed every fukking body just to show you what people were going to choose to focus on. I thought for sure if anything would get him cancled it would have been that joke but barely any word about it. Very telling.

People who moved away from their homeland for thousands of years. Things went terribly for them so they came back and claim their former territories for themselves with no regard for the people living there. It’s the Palestine and Israel situation distilled.

The second one he uses a is a former slave who became a slave master analogy. Jews faced persecution in Europe, but instead of learning empathy, when the state of Israel was created, they treated the indigenous people terribly.
