He could have had a one punch gimmick like Will he catch Austin and run with that for like two months

They did that punch/knockout artist gimmick with Mark Jindrak and nobody gave A fukk.

On one hand, sure they punished Bart for knockin' out the guy they THOUGHT was gonna win...

But thinkin' he was gonna get a big push for winning some shyt that was not given a fukk about by fans and panned critically... even if they'd tried to push him, that shyt wasn't making it to the main event. Not while they had Austin, Taker, Rock, Kane, Mankind, etc. goin' on. The guy who was treated as the Marty Jannetty of the Smokin' Gunns was not goin' that far.

And if they were so confident in Dr. Death, they probably should've made all that shyt a work. Or better yet, found another way to push Doc, totally separate from this blind faith that he was just gonna beat the shyt outta everybody.

They did Bart so wrong. The only real loser was Bart and that's because he won. They were overly optimistic regarding Dr. Death. Given the time and what was to come he would not have fit, and he already peaked. The Godfather still had his gimmick, and JBL and Holly still got have a tough guy gimmick. They could have repackaged him like everyone else around that time.

They could've easily given them a month build up to a ppv where Austin doesn't think of him as on his level and Bart wants to prove himself. Have a good match like they had before, Bart loses and is able to have a decent mid-card run.

I watched this one back and Jim Ross was really emotional about it, he damn sure wanted Dr. Death to be a bigger deal.

The question I was left with was, who came up with the Butterbean idea?

Oh, and anyone who still doesn't think Jim Cornette is psychotic needs their head examined.

Or they could've easily put Austin against a MF the fans cared about...

People think everybody that didn't get a push to the top shoulda got one... Bart Gunn in that era main eventing with Austin because he knocked a few people out in a trash ass shoot tournament... is about as dumb an idea as them believing Dr. Death was gonna win it because they THOUGHT he could beat anyone up.
