So apparently we WILL be seeing Wakanda in some shape or form in Civil War

During their panel at Wizard World New Orleans, Captain America: Civil War directors Joe and Anthony Russo were asked by a fan whether we would have scenes at Wakanda in the film. There was concern that Wakanda might not be introduced until Black Panther's February 16, 2018 solo film. However, we received confirmation of Marvel Comics' fictitious country in the film in a very humorous way.

Initially Anthony Russo told fans that they were not going to confirm any details about the film and that fans should rest assured that Black Panther has a big part to play in the film and has an "amazing arc". However, in a bit of good-natured brotherly ribbing, Joe Russo jumped in to explain that Anthony's evasiveness typically means the answer is yes. Joe explained, if the answer was no, then Anthony would've just said no. "If you're going to see Wakanda, we go, 'Listen, we can't tell you whether or not you're going to see Wakanda.' [So]You're probably going to see Wakanda."

Black Panther is “not a superhero”, says Chadwick Boseman

The Marvel Cinematic Universe’s next big superhero is not exactly a superhero - at least, according to its star, Chadwick Boseman.

Speaking exclusively to Empire, as part of our extensive Captain America: Civil War coverage, Boseman claimed that Black Panther – aka T’Challa – is “not a superhero” in the usual sense. Making his first on-screen appearance in Civil War, Boseman claimed that he is “not on anybody’s team. It’s my political mission to tame it and get it under control”.

This is not to say, necessarily, that T’Challa will not have superpowers – merely that he won’t be your conventional Avenger. In the comics, Black Panther – the king of the fictional African nation of Wakanda – is imbued with superhuman strength, speed, agility and senses, gained from consuming the ‘Heart-Shaped Herb’.

Boseman would not confirm to us whether T’Challa will have drunk his magic brew to be imbued with superhuman powers by the time we meet him in Civil War, but he will have a super suit woven with vibranium – the same material used in Cap’s shield.

He also acknowledges that the solo Black Panther movie, due in 2018, “is a superhero movie, but it’s still character-driven”.

Has the script been finished? When does it start filming

Joe Cole and Ryan Coogler are still working on it, it seems. How far into it? Not sure.

Safe to say casting should begin around fall, with filming starting around Jan of next year at the latest (film comes out in Feb 2018). Just guessing.

In the comics does Panther still have those king of the dead abilities or has he lost them?

We will find out in a month and a half, when the Coates run begins.

It does, however, seem that T'Challa still remembers when T'Chaka and the previous Panthers disowned him. It's showed in the Ultimates.

Lots of questions to be answered. Hopefully they are tackled in April.
