Yea I get how average, normal living and working cats are always cynical and believe that EVERY who don’t have have 9-5 jobs like us may be on steroids or something to look fit.

But my question is...... for an actor who has MILLIONS, may be in between projects it or training for a project and may have 6 months to a year. And can afford chefs to make their meals, how is it hard to believe someone can’t say “fukk it, I’m just gonna work out everyday for the next 4-12 month and eat healthy and get right”?

He first got fit for Creed. Once he got there why would he go back to skinny and lanky?

I can imagine you work that hard cuz you have the time & money to. You’d take pride in your results and want to keep it up the right way

Because mass and leaness doesnt work that way. It's precisely because shooting schedules are so tight, and different roles require different sizes, that they have to juice. Jackman was the most obvious.

This movie is obviously very good, but it might as well have just been called "Wakanda." This is not a complaint.

Alright let me clear up some of the confusion surrounding the Heart Shaped Herb.

It’s Tuesday now. Five days after release so I won’t spoiler this post but just in case SPOILER ALERT BELOW

From The Comic Canon. The Heart Shaped Herb has a secret fail safe, in that anyone NOT of the royal family lineage who consumes the Herb is poisoned. So even if you happen to defeat T’Challa, if you are not of his bloodline (brother, son, sister, Uncle, cousin, etc.) you will have an adverse reaction and die.

Now I’m not sure if the Movies are following this same continuity. It’s suggested that it’s not because when T’Challa is defeated, Shuri, Nakia, and Ramonda flee to the Jabarie lands to offer the herb to M’Baku. HOWEVER, given the circumstances and the fact that neither Shuri nor Nakia had been raised and trained all of Theron lives to become the ruler of Wakanda, they may not have been privy to that information, as even in the comics the true nature of the Heart Shapes Herb is a CLOSELY guarded secret.

That’s also why I suspect there was an added advantage to making Kilmonger a relative of T’Challa. In the comics they are not related, however the circumstances of Kilmonger’s father ending up America is very similar between the two mediums (in the comics Kilmonger’s father is exiled after being FORCED to assist Klaue. And Kilmonger grows up wanting to avenge his father’s honor.)

But in a nutshell, there’s a reason why not just ANYBODY can consume the herb and become black Panther. The connection to Bast is always and ONLY through the bloodline of T’Challa’s family

Depends. I wouldn’t say MBJ was on anything in particular and to your point I think he would generally work to maintain his look from Creed forward, within reason.

That said the flip side in general is that they are getting paid and because of that they would be more likely to take something to get movie ready. The level of that is debatable but I think most people would in some form.

From the movie here are my most important factors for it to be a success

- Black Excellence from start to finish: I don't mean that T'Challa shouldn't have to go through the standard steps of the heroes journey. He should face struggle and resistance, but he should face it as ROYALTY and he should face it as one of the most intelligent characters in the Marvel universe (think Toney Stark without the snarks and sarcasm) I don't mind if they use his arrogance (a BP staple) as a means to humble him, but that should NOT come at the cost of his regality.

- Top Notch Casting: Chadwicke Boseman is an excellent choice for T'Challa, his performance in Get On Up is what really made me a true fan of his, he was dynamic and electric in that movie, he really carried it to greatness and deserved an Oscar nom. The rest of the cast should be just as talented and suited for the their roles. T'Chaka, Suri, etc. should ALL be cast with the greatest of care and the best black actors possible. I want to see the likes Courtney B. Vance, Angela Bassett, Lupita Nyongo, THE BEST.

- Wakanda In All Its Glory: Wakanda is the most advanced civilization in the Marvel Universe. It even does it a disservice to call it a civilization, it is a KINGDOM. A kingdom of proud citizens who are second to none. There were some viewers who thought that the African Battle scene in AOU took place in Wakanda. This couldn't be FURTHER from Wakanda, Wakanda should be unique, fantastical, and unlike anything seen in any current Marvel film.

- A Strong Love Interest: Like I posted earlier in this thread, T'Challa has had a noticeable lack of memorable love interests compared to his Cac counterparts. Storm was his best match as his wife and Queen Regent but after Hudlin left the comic Marvel took a huge, steaming dump on the relationship. Besides that, Fox currently has the rights to the character of Storm. Monica Lynne is his next most meaningful relationship, and admittedly, she was more the "damsel in distress" than anything else. If Monica is introduced in the BP film then she needs to be updated to portray a stronger, intelligent, more resourceful match for T'Challa, a woman who, he can respect and view as an equal. Many people feel that a love interest isn't needed, but I disagree, All of the MCU mainstays have love interests (Iron Man has Pepper Potts, Cap has Sharon Carter, Thor has Jane Foster) and, when done right, it can add to the character. I personally would like to see a mainstream representation of black superhero romance.

Damn I posted this almost 3 years ago and Coogler came through on ALL accounts :wow:

caught up a lil bit, but not fully....i'll throw in my 2 cents about the topics going on in here:

- he was vengeful, hurt, angry, filled with hate/revenge, etc. but no, killmonger wasnt crazy...to call him that is a lazy way to dismiss the character buildup they did, and to side step having a real discussion about his motivations/end game....it's not a coincidence that most that are calling him that in reviews are non-black people....

- no, he wasnt sexist neither...i see people trying to say he mistreated women in the movie, when he didnt....yea, he did what he did to his love interest, but along with being his love interest, people ignoring she was his right hand person, so they were close....she knew what was up when that scene happened...she knew he had a goal, and nothing was going to stop him from achieving that, not even her....that's why she apologized for fukking up and putting herself in that situation, but she knew that train wasnt gonna stop, not even for her...as for the other scenes people using as examples: him choking the lady int he garden....that was just him being upset she didnt do what he said since he was the new king....if that wouldve been a male servant, the same wouldve happened to him...also, people ignoring he didnt kill her, he let her live, he just instilled fear in her/the others around......as for him not using the dora to help fight bp, he didnt have a choice in that....the dora were beside him until bp showed back up, and then they made the choice they did....w'kabi was on his side cause he was having the same thoughts as killmonger, and he felt a certain way cause killmonger gave him that gift...

...i'll catch up with the rest later and discuss...
