That doesn't add up at all, because we know Walt decided his own fate after leaving NH, and in this season opener of BCS, Jimmy/Saul/Gene decided to make his own luck as well. So, what did Ed meant by that if it wasn't about Saul denying to get bailed out by Ed the 2nd time because of getting made?
Ed was talking about the first time Saul used him to get to Omaha.

They're in Ed's basement this scene.

Saul decides to leave, Walt decides to stay.

Ed was DEFINITELY NOT referring to that... that's a total reach. Both of them went to Ed and both relocated through Ed. That scene had nothing to do with why Ed would not HELP Jesse. Jesse was short on the money, and that's why Ed said about he made his own luck. He was telling Jesse to face the he created as what Walt eventually did and what appears from the BCS opener, what Saul is about to do.

context, you gotta love it. even tho i believe what ed said was bigger than a podcast date that the producer put in 3 years ago before el camino was even a thing but i still think it could be either way knowing how much of a psycho the head writer is.

So, if that's the case you believe... purely due to the date of the Rich Eisen episode... then what did Ed mean when he was refusing to help Jesse initially when he said, “From where I see it, you made your own luck. As did your former partner. As did your lawyer?"

That doesn't add up at all, because we know Walt decided his own fate after leaving NH, and in this season opener of BCS, Jimmy/Saul/Gene decided to make his own luck as well. Huh? :gucci:

The Gene timeline we've seen so far can't be happening during "El Camino"....due to the simple fact that "El Camino" took place over a few days directly after the events of "Felina".

Gene has been at Cinnabon for close to 2 months, as of the season 2 flash forward in "BCS". Like I said, the finale of "Breaking Bad" happened early September. The Rich Eisen podcast in season 2 of "BCS" is from the end of October. So that alone kills that idea.

Lastly, you're taking the quote out of context. He didn't just say "you made your own luck". Jesse was trying to gain sympathy talking about he'd been held captive and tortured and Ed said:

Ed: If you believe that you can pull on people’s heartstrings, you should take your chances with the police. From where I sit, you made your own luck. As did your former partner. As did your lawyer. You said it yourself, a deal’s a deal.

In other words, you are where you are because of the decisions you made. Same as Walt. Same as Saul.

Fred.

Know exactly how long El Camino is from the series finale of Breaking Bad... the discussion is that Walt was ALIVE still during the Gene flash forwards. It is very possible that the flash forwards were before the series finale of Breaking Bad.
