He's making episodes that standalone for a reason.

I feel like he wants content that can be viewed by anyone regardless of them watching the show before.

I think it was because of COVID lockdowns and the tight schedules of Glover, Brian Tyree Henry, Lakeith Stanfield and Zazie Beetz. Atlanta was their only thing when the show started. Now they're superstars in the MCU and DCEU and shyt

I feel like Donald Glover always goes left and keeps you guessing when it comes to the content he puts out

just look at his music videos

they always abstract and somethings have nothing to do with the song

these stand alone episodes allow him to be more creative and tell new stories

not saying the actual character episodes are boring or worse but episodes like this week just hit different and make you think.

also some people on here probably never knew what Trini or Trinidad is before this week

hmmmm im not from NY nor Trini so this ep was kind of eh. the church part was kind of funny tho.

If you're from flyover country, it won't hit you the way it does for others. The casting of Chet Hanks helped the episode stick the landing.

Like for example my grandmother basically left Haïti to work in the US and left my mom with her grandma. Which in a way she kinda resented her mother like Princess did(my dad explained it to me in a talk a few years ago).

Like immigrants don’t have a choice really to do this to help their kids life become better. Meanwhile them white parents with Nannies have more of a choice since they got lots of funds to be in their life and they opt not to to make more money and think they can just throw money at em
