I thought it was great. Loved the ending too. So Sylvia filled in for the parents on picture day. Bash prolly even asked her to do it. They just brushed it off like it was no big deal because they’re so wrapped up in themselves.

From the daughters outburst at the funeral sylvia obviously struggled with the same shyt these parents were. Working endless hours to provide for her kids but never truly connecting with them. Which is the case for a lot of single mothers. She probably harbored that regret and left these people with those pics to nail that message home. If you miss the most pivotal years of your kids lives you’ll never be able to rebuild that connection.

Sylvia’s facial expressions in those pictures were hilarious though. The final one she literally hit em with the :usure:

brilliant episode. And I’m usually not a big fan of these spin off episodes.

Brooklyn son
This episode was deep. My grandma was a home aid in the Lower East Side of Manhattan which has a large Jewish community. Working with those Jews had such an profound effect on her, she name all her kids (all daughters) Jewish names (Esther, Bertha, Ann). The interchange of cultures through labor can’t be more shown. Fast forward to today, I get up to go to work, I live in Brooklyn, gentrified central and all I see is West Indian women with white babies. If you are a New Yorker this episode hit home a bit. Brilliant television. Spooky as well but brilliant television.

Do you need an ocean breath?

:mjlol:
Is this actually a thing white parents teach kids today or did they make it up for the show? :dwillhuh:

Same. In my neighborhood in Pretoria, I was the only Black person who lived on that block. The only others were security guards and nannies. shyt used to always irk me. Those women made it all the way thru apartheid and still had to depend on white folks. Just never sat right with me.

you telling me there are still all white basically segregated communities/regions IN AFRICA while Blacks live in the poorest of poor ghettos (I’ve seen them in a documentary) and have less opportunities? :ohhh:

what was the point of everything Nelson Mandela did? :beli:

I thought the entire country was integrated and big changes were made after apartheid

You make it sound like America 2.0:leostare:

This is the type of episode that could only be done after having kids and going through these things.

Talking to a 5 year old about death, the afterlife and God is always fukkery to me. It's first world problems, but even being present while raising kids is something that all parents go through. These 2 offloaded much of the day to day parenting to a nanny. A lot of people do it with a tablet or a cell phone tho.
