Nyla...My bigger issue is how they kept hotshotting the #1 contendership a few times only for their late choice for the big homecoming 2020 show to fall through because she's not available. Riho hasn't been seen in forever and is most likely dropping the belt here(or would have to Statler). If shytt Baker gets it because she's around

No, I agree, their women's division booking is a mess. But at least they're sticking to their rankings.

Their rankings don't make sense is really more of the issue. Britt Baker was ranked number one with no singles victories, lost her title match, lost to the number one contender (Shida), then got a number one contenders match anyway and lost that...is still ranked ahead of Shida. Nyla Rose has been on TV once in 3 months and lost the match and got suspended indefinitely, she's ranked 4 and is in a title match her first match back.


Go to the men's and MJF is ranked 5 despite having a total of 3 singles matches since May.

Go to the tag teams and LAX is ranked number one despite just losing to the Young Bucks twice (once in a 6 man with Dustin) in the past month, as well as Private Party. Best Friends are below Lucha Bros despite defeating them on TV. Bucks and Lucha Bros have the same records but the Bucks are ahead of them despite the Bucks having just lost to SCU and Lucha Bros just beating Omega/Page.


Their ranking system makes no sense.

Yes, you're right. They need to find a way to make the rankings serve some sense into the booking or drop them altogether. WWE and TNA tried to do something like that for a little while and didn't work either.

Ranking systems in wrasslin always sound better in theory than in practice. Very few feds have ever pulled them off logically or successfully for an extended period. AEW’s is mostly lip service, they’d be better just dropping it altogether

I don't think ANY promotion has ever pulled it off. The only time rankings really work is when it is part of a tournament like the G1 where there are clear rules and a definitive point system. You can't have a system where some wins are weighted and some aren't and ultimately whoever is more popular or whatever match you want to make has to fudge the system to work. Just say wins and losses matter and don't book people to lose multiple matches and then get title matches anyway.
