Violence isn't a black thing, no one is saying that. But violence impacts blacks more than any race in the US, that's a fact.
I'm not saying the crack laws have changed things, but they certainly made that issue less of a discriminatory problem.

The main problem is poverty. When most black people start have a living wage jobs, you will see decline of violence and the so call broken family.
When the all factories started to close down in the inner city and out source in 60's & 70's. Is when we started to see the rise of the broken black family and violence. Because it left a lot of black families poor and this is when they start pumping drugs and police in the black community.
The broken family and violence is a result of poverty. You can even see this in poor white areas also.
Also, laws that targets blacks more than other races are a problem too.

Obama can't solve all the problems and nobody is expecting him to. But he's not making any inroads on shyt he does have influence over (prison industrial complex for example), and he has distanced himself from the black community.
You are screaming he's only one man, but he's one man who is pushing immigration reform to help Latinos, and at least hinting at federalizing gay marriage. He passed Obamacare and some other huge reforms. So why can't he do anything for us? He can, but he won't, because it's not politically convenient or necessary. Its true that we have weakened ourselves in the political arena, but like someone in here said he is America's president- not just Latinos' president, or the unemployed's president, or the gay's president, so to only take direct action for politically convenient special interest groups and ignore everyone else isn't right.

Latinos have unique problems they get unique govt help to solve them. Gays have unique problems they get unique govt help to solve them. Blacks have unique problems, we get vague allusions to basically fix our shyt ourselves... even though many of the issues we face interfacing with the govt are the same category of issues the other groups face- institutional discrimination & violations of civil rights

And as much as Obama has changed his mind on what I thought were his fundamental policies/beliefs over the last 5 years, I don't think anyone besides Fox News would cry about Obama suddenly taking an interest in the black community. They complain when dude "talks slang".

Well first of all there is no reason for the Democratic Party to address black issues becuase black people are guaranteed to vote for democrats no matter what, if anybody dares to challenge that orthodoxy they are called a sellout, you were the one arguing that anybody that votes for a republican is a sellout
Second as far as the prison industrial complex, the architect of the prism industrial complex is joe Biden first of all, and half of you fuks are already takin out poms poms for him in 2016
