I think there is a bigger problem here involving illegal search and seizures.. For stop and frisk (someone correct me if I'm wrong) they need "reasonable suspicion" but a stop and frisk they can't dig into your pockets and stuff, they can only pat you down, for a full search you need probable cause, my point is that it doesn't even really matter because a cop can make up whatever he wants to justify both those situations. He can just say "I SMELLED WEED!" to search you. It may, or may not have been true but it gave him probable cause. Just straight :scusthov: circumventing the 4th amendment

They would trick them in NYC, by asking them to empty their pockets, and that's when they find the herb. They then give them a ticket for having weed in public view, which is more serious then just having the weed in your pocket. The thing is when they state public view, it's suppose to mean actually smoking it, but they are using it to mean, being seen in public. Slicksters. They know even if you contest having weed in public view, you still can get charged with possession. They make money out of you either way.

From what ive read they can do a pat down and they should stop unless they feel something suspicious..but then they can ask you whats this? and if you lie thats an arrestable offence, they can also say a wallet or flashlight feels like a gun so they can now go into your pockets..and so on

The kind of finesse and integrity these powers require not to be misused are beyond most so if you run into a cop in a bad neighbourhood at night you will probably get the full rubber glove treatment.

Yep, cops will do and say anything to attempt to get you to give up your rights and if they don't they will just find a way to fukk you regardless. It's amazing that people have put up with this for so long. I think the war on drugs is one thing that started this whole mentality.

Sounds about right.

And you DO get called a rat for speaking against the department. I can show ya'll the Facebook posts of a mutual friend who happens to be a cop and it's mind boggling how this cat who is a BLACK COP almost religiously follows whatever is spewed by the NYPD.

For a while I was thinking maybe he's doing it because HE doesn't want to be seen as a rat but nah he really does believe that shyt cause when we have convos in IRL about topics of the say and shyt, you can tell dude is all about it.

I have a coworker who was a under cover narcotics detective in Tucson and just some of the stories he's told me... cops are slick as fuk. ANy cop worth his weight in Donut holes can find a "reasonable suspicion". I've heard "cop stories" of cops using their cell phones to call into the non emergency lines to report and describe a "suspicious character" then rolling up on dudes like, "we have a report of a suspicious character that looks like you..."(reasonable suspicion)

Its really is crazy.

No doubt, I forgot about those weekend visits:shake:

I remember back in the day, they would just ignore us, tell us to take it somewhere else, or just tell you to put the weed out, and give you a ticket for smoking a cigarette at least that's what they gave me when I did it on the subway platform. I guess it's good things have changed though, because kids don't need to see that all the time, like I did. Herb smell was everywhere in NYC before 1997, especially in the 80's-mid'90's.

The shyt really irks me man. I have no problem with the police doing police work. The shyt you are describing, the shyt we're talking about in here with regards to the NYC Stop and Frisk policy? This is just wrong.

That's the thing it's supposed to be just a desk appearance ticket. But the department is concerned with the "numbers". If the numbers look good then it's all good. But when the numbers don't look good, the higher ups give the ok to all the people further down the ladder that they need to do whatever it takes. Then it falls on the grunt beat cops to enforce these policies. And they follow them blindly because if they don't they are seen as rats or trying to "take food out of the mouths" of other cops or their "kids".

Don't get me wrong, I agree that it's wrong, I'm just saying that it's good that NYC got cleaned up a little. They are doing it the lazy, and greedy way, but some of the things are better. I guess this is part of the process, we just have to keep stopping the bullshyt, by constantly talking about it, so it can be fixed, and keep the good that comes out of it. Anybody that remembers 42nd st., and that whole area, knows how crazy it was. The hoe stroll on 28ths st., everybody selling all types of drugs in Washington square park, even lacing the weed sometimes with that wet or roach spray, so you had to be careful who you got it from. That was just MANHATTAN, imagine how the boroughs were.:damn:

I LOVED NYC THOUGH.

More undeniable proof of insitutional racism and how the justice system is used as a tool to keep blacks as a permanent underclass. c00ns like @She Agree That I'm Looney like to downplay and dismiss it though.

Those cops are like little children. That article is also giving me more proof that I think the numbers are being played with, to make NYC look more safer then it really is. They figured out the numbers hustle, and using it to get more money out of investors so they can come to the city, and help put more money into the system. That is probably why they are making sure certain areas, are heavily policed, and those people don't bring any thing negative to the money making areas. They are scared certain people will drive the money away, which is understandable, but they are just assuming it's all black, and hispanic, males instead of certain ones. They need to do investigations like real police, and stop being tv cops. Looking like police, but just acting.

BTW, I was thinking about how NYC was, and only a few could live through all of that shyt, and keep their positivity, this Nas video brought back some memories:
