You post too many simplistic narratives. You could have built an identity with last year's team if you stick to one form of play. If you think last year's team was full of shytty players then that means you think all of the holdovers from last season stink too. So we have half a team with shytty players.... Can we build an identity with half of a shytty team?you cant build an idenity with shytty players fam.
the team was trash and half of it is gone.
there was no reason to build an idenity last year
we were tanking and everyone knew da team would be completely different da following year .
last year was about player development
and if you take frank out the picture, all da rest of our young players (4 da record, mudiay falls under da young categorry whether u like him or not) showed promise. dotson trier mitch, these guys exceeded expectations and took advantage of their small oppportunies. frank should do the same
now we have a brand new team. and frank is getting yet Another chance to prove himself. so lets see how it goes
The problem is,we haven't figured out their strength besides Mitch. How can we establish an identity with rookies in their first year. Frank had a groin injury and we tried to find his place by moving him around 3 places.
If you build a team identity based on the strengths of your young talent... You can have an identity while developing your young talent...
you can build an idenity with second year players with potential, the 3 or 4 veteran players with playoff experience that we signed, and a young up and coming player who averaged 21 8 and has allstar potential. we didnt have any of that last year. You post too many simplistic narratives. you cant build an idenity with unproven rookies you were about to trade for anthony davis, and without knowing what max free agents were coming here. now that the dust has settled, we can start the process
you're not making sense and you are proving my point.Y'all make no sense. Whether proven or not, we knew and still know strengths, weaknesses, possibilities, and impossibilities of all the players we had then and now. You could've developed a defensive identity and started Frank, Dotson, Whoever, Vonleh and Mitch. Matter of fact we DID start that exact lineup with a defensively motivated THJR and actually won a few games.
If we wanted to have a fast paced identity, we could've started Trier, DSJR, Dotson, Knox and Mitch.
The problem wasn't that we didn't know, the problem was we didn't choose.
Edit: and the idea that the Knicks couldn't develop an identity because they were thinking about trading for Anthony Davis 8 months ago is just nonsensical.
I'm just trying to see...

Let me ask you a question... Who did we lose from last year that would've completely changed any identity we could've chose last yearyou're not making sense and you are proving my point.
when we talk about being an idenity, we are talking about long term. so yes, we coulda chose a random identity to play with last year, but it would be completely different this year because of all da roster changes so what how exactly is that progress
if kyrie and durant came we wouldnt be a defense orientated team
there wers too many variables to figure out
how can u develop an idenity while are losing on purpose

Thanks in part to Perry’s influence, the Kings are no longer in the business of getting fleeced. Among his many contributions, Perry stressed the importance of amassing assets, maintaining salary cap flexibility and, while in the midst of a rebuild, adding selective veterans both to mentor young players and introduce the nuances of the game.
Perry’s prints are all over the Zach Randolph, Vince Carter and George Hill signings. Similarly, his was a loud voice in the war room before and during the draft, and, according to several Kings officials, he was a strong advocate of De’Aaron Fox, the Kentucky point guard who was selected fifth overall.
