Dude was reading books on how to relate to millenials and rapping in meetings. He was completely out of touch...can't see much reason for him not being canned.

low-key, all this is Mitch n & Buss family's fault. They should've hired Shaw after Phil left (or even after they fired Mike Brown) & Shaw would prolly still be the coach.

He's probably not out of touch for real, its just that he more than likely couldn't get them to listen, and he started grasping at straws to figure out how to get them to listen for real

Most of those kids are only going to respect white authority figures and probably never had a black coach in their life. Aint no way they'd do that 6 weeks chant if the coach was white

lol, put it on the coach when a bunch of young dudes that have never seen the finals are trying to tell a champion how to win .

yall gone learn

get Mike D'antoni over there so yall can raise the win column having fun like the players want. but never see the finals.

See most players that have never won anything at the nba level have no idea what they need to do in order to win it all or at minimum get to the finals.

So they go with what they know and like. which is up tempo offense shooting 3's and playing trapping pressure defense to create more TO's to get out and run some more. B.shaw isnt trying to win 50 games during the season. he's trying to prepare these guys for the playoffs and then for a finals trip. But they dont understand this. they are too immature.

So you will always have a lot of losing when a coach like this is paired with a very young group that has never won a thing.

It's the same problem going on with the dudes in New York(aside from a lack of talent.) Its the same thing that has gone on with all Phil jackson seeds. Those guys are coaching for a ring. most coaches are coaching for seasonal wins only and praying they make the offs, then they will pray their regular in season coaching will work come playoff time.

Thibs coaches the same way regardless which is enough to get you to the offs and win you some rounds depending on your talent level.

Anyone remember the cavs with young bron and mo will, etc. all that in season winning under mike brown. solid coach. solid defense. offense as stale as stale can get. come playoff time if it wasnt lbj doing every single thing, they couldnt score. this is what kobe was trying to preach to dwight the little time he was in a laker uni. dont think because you win some games during the season; its guaranteed that this style will work vs a legit team in the playoffs where teams finally have time to key in on all of your plays.

If you dont have a serious half court offense. teams will just slow the pace down and keep their shot attempts down to stop you from getting more attempts/shots at the basket. which will kill off your fastbreak run n fun game plan. if thats all you have. what will be your plan B if Run n Fun isnt working? What happens with a "pick n pop only" team when they trap the guard like crazy and jump out on the shooters?

its the same question for teams like the clippers. if lob city and 3's arent working. THEN WHAT?

The old school showtime lakers were a running team with an insane half court game to boot. They ran heavy pick n roll, pick n pop, hit the big man on the block and let him work. hit tall magic on the block and let him work. hit worthy on the block and let him work. backdoor lobs to cooper/bscott, kick outs to bscott and cooper. thats a team that can only be stopped by a team thats just as talented with a great offense of their own(boston with bird and friends...they also had a solid get out and run game but had a great half court offense.)

the times can change all they want. the team with the best half court offense among the top tier teams will win more rings then those that dont have a legit half court offense.

Shaq and kobe, then kobe and gasol. all ran the triangle. but they also ran a lot of pick n roll come 4th quarter. you have to be able to switch it up when push comes to shove.

Wojo was on NY radio earlier today and said the reason Shaw kept getting passed over for jobs was because he wasn't that prepared for interviews and was a lousy interview in general, and that his tenture in Den was so bad that he's going to be a one and done head coach.

read what i said above. of course he should be a one and done coach. if he continues to coach for winning rings vs winning games. most teams will never win a ring or get to the finals. So coaching to win it all will actually harm your ability to win some in season games with a young group of non winners.

let Bshaw have had a team of Ray allen, Rondo, KG, and pierce, or kobe, gasol, or even dwade, lbj, and bosh.

bshaw would win rings with these types. not just because they are great talents but because they are grown men. in addition most of them were ready to put everything aside for a chance to win it all. egos included. not so with young up and comers.

Didn't he get fired because the FO wanted the team to play at a faster pace?

Vivek wanted the Kings to play gimmick SSOL, cherry picking 4 on 5 defense basketball.

Malone's argument was "we have the most offensively talented center in the game, I'm going to run the offense through him and not turn him into Kousta Koufus".

remember, he was effectively the coach (Mark Jackson served as motivational speaker) of the Dubs team that basically beat the Nuggets at their own game in 2013.

he coaches to his rosters strengths, which is why every single Kings player was devastated he was fired. exactly the opposite of Shawful.
