This. I also think it has to do with the fact that Puerto Ricans and blacks created Hip Hop together in the 70's. But truth be told, hella PR's who do have black blood don't consider themselves to be black at all. Same with Dominicans. Especially older ones. Many more conservative non-black PR's hold very racist attitudes about American blacks. I think it comes with the universal immigrant mentality that blacks in America are hustling backwards and that America is the ultimate "land of opportunity" bullshyt.

And brotherhood between blacks and other races varies by region. Where I'm from in the Bay, in many hoods, the demographic split is more between blacks and Asians than blacks and Latinos. Where I'm from in Lakeview in SF was always more or less split between blacks and Asians, and both groups got along for the most part. Same thing with Funktown and areas in North Oakland. And "Black and Brown" is also a common slogan in the Bay. Out here in Maryland, South Baltimore is integrated between blacks and whites. You got areas in South Baltimore and bordering Baltimore County like Lansdowne, Pigtown and Brooklyn where whites and blacks fukk with each other for the most part.

But to say that all blacks and PR's should be cool is some dumb shyt. Sounds like some 1999 BET propaganda shyt. Saying all blacks should be cool is some dumb shyt because it ain't never gone happen because no race of people is cool with each other just because of race. That's why them Hebrew Nigraelites are a bunch of clowns. Where I'm from blacks clique up with Latinos, Asians, Samoans etc. from the same turf and they funk with nikkas from the other side. Same thing with Latinos clique'd up with blacks killing other Latin bangers. People tend to hurt and hate their own race the world over. Most violent crime in America is people hurting and killing their own race. And it ain't no Nigraelite fake ass 12 tribe curse limited to blacks and Latinos or either. The Japanese killed 20 million Chinese people in an 8 year period during during WWII.

I do know about the middle class black neighborhoods in Queens, like Cambria Heights. But I'm pretty sure there are also middle class Rican neighborhoods, Corona and Woodhaven are to my understanding.

But I think the whole American blacks and PR's being cool thing comes from Nuyoricans, period. Ricans on the Island often look down on Nuyoricans as being ignorant of their native culture and assimilating to black culture. And hella immigrants of all races, Africans, Asians, Indians, Latinos etc. hate on American blacks because they think black folks in America are holding themselves back when they don't take into account all of the institutional racism that has kept black people down in America since day one.

It's the same where I'm from with Northern Cali Mexicans getting along with blacks for the most part. Surenos from L.A., Mexico, El Salvador, Honudras etc. look at Northern Cali Mexicans for being sellouts for getting along with blacks and assimilating aspects of black culture. So they kill each other. Latinos born and raised in America in the cities are more likely to relate to blacks than their own immigrant parents. Same thing with hella Asians in the Bay. The kids assimilate to popular urban culture which is always black culture.

But I do agree that Puerto Rican is not a race. It kills me when people say "Fat Joe is not white, he's Puerto Rican" as if there are no white Puerto Ricans. Fat Joe look like he got white and Asian PR/Cuban blood. But being Latino is a culture which is markedly different from whitebred Starbucks drinking, sandals wearing, shorts in the winter, drawing dikks on your face after you pass out drunk at a party, country music listening, acid tripping, meth smoking, "I'm normal" white American peckerwood culture.
