Exclusive Details on the Return of BET Uncut

by Kel Dansby | Posted on Sunday, July 19th, 2015

I had the pleasure of covering the NBAPA’s Player Awards, which will air Tuesday night on BET. While there BET made it known that BET Uncut would return to late night TV.

If you don’t know what BET Uncut you might be under the age of 25, if you are over the age of 25, it is time to rejoice. I can recall staying up until 3am and watching videos like ‘Tip Drill’ on level 5 volume so I wouldn’t wake my grandparents. It was a staple for many in the Hip Hop generation and now a whole new set of fans will get to experience it.

Are you excited for the return of BET Uncut?

The VMAs that airs once a year being their only music video oriented programming doesn't help.

MTV was a great place for artists to promote their new releases. Making of music videos, live performances, interviews. That's basicslly non existent now. Huge reason why music sales have gone down as well. There's no excitement or anticipation.

shyt looks wack:camby:

People will tune in for awhile, just to check it out. But overall this is pointless. Like I said expect a mass channel die-off/combining in the next 5-10 years.

Bet Uncut was only good because as a youngin porn was so hard to come by
:what: Porn was hard to come by in 2005?

Look, if Uncut has an issue, it's because it's coming on too early in the evening. 10PM is too early, it's a show that's supposed to be on at 2AM, where they can get borderline pornographic without crossing that line.

I think it could be successful regardless of the internet, because like radio, BET can expose people to things they wouldn't normally look for. Like any of y'all would've been on the internet looking up Black Jesus and Joker the Bailsbondsman or Mighty Casey.

If they do it in a way where a lot of marginally famous rappers who most people wouldn't look up online and the few mainstream rappers who make "uncut" type videos, it could be okay.

BET Networks has announced a new original, hour-long docu-series featuring the careers and evolution of Beyonce, Chris Brown, Janet Jackson, Nicki Minaj and Trey Songz, titled “THE BET LIFE OF…”

The series will include exclusive on-air interviews, some of the best televised performances and unforgettable moments only captured by BET. Each episode will also feature commentary and one-on-one interviews with some of the industry’s most influential entertainers, television and movie stars, former BET hosts, music executives and the people who worked behind the scenes to create the featured artists best and most memorable on-air moments.

Titled “THE BET LIFE OF…” premieres Tuesday, September 8th at 9 P.M.

The premiere episode features Chris Brown and the evolution of the artist and performer as we've gotten to know him today - "From his humble beginnings as a young man from Virginia with hit song 'Run It' to an international superstar performing a once-in-a-lifetime tribute to the late Michael Jackson, to facing his fans in an exclusive '106&Park' sit-down interview where he discussed his personal challenges, trials, and path to retribution, as well as Chris Brown the “street art” artist, skilled basketball player and all-around extraordinary performer," states the press release.

“BET is so fortunate to have been there since the beginning with these amazing artists. It’s been fun looking back at the early years of these superstars; many of whom have their very first look on BET. Through this show you’ll get nostalgic, but also realize the work, dedication and growth to today of your favorite performers,” says Stephen G. Hill, BET President of Programming.

The full season of “THE BET LIFE OF…” will feature the following (Schedule subject to change):

It's moments like these that I wish I were in a position to help come up with and present
content for MTV or BET. They're clearly channels that need to be reinvented for the 21st century.

Vice, noisey, etc. all of these websites have adjusted to the new ways people
consume and are introduced to music. MTV doesn't seem interested in presenting
similar content and is hell bent on bringing reality T.V. shows that no one asked for.

I always hear folks in The Booth talk about them. What content do that have on their site?
