Dropping alcohol was the best thing I ever did. Lost 15 lbs, skin got better, sleep better, consistently in a better mood:wow:

Yup, from 2016-2020 i was up and down drastically with my weight

2016 - was 315lbs and got down to 224. I was still getting smashed on weekends
2017-2019 - 240-255lbs.
2020 - i went up to 280lbs during lockdown, alcohol habit got worse. I was drinking 4-5x a week
2021 - l Gave up Alcohol and went from 285lbs to 202lbs in 7 months. Super strict with my diet and workout 6x a week

Ive been 202-214bs since july. I was 214lbs last week from the way i ate last month and not going to the gym but im at 204lbs now after a week of fasting and getting back to working out

Nice to see so many ppl speaking on drinking less than they did before. I’m like most ppl, I was pretty bad in my 20s. I think I drank to forget things and feel good. But it took a toll on me and I wasted a lot of years hanging out and not focusing on myself and addressing the things that needed attention.

I’m a way better man these days. Better husband and father as well. I still drink but only every month or so when I meet up with my friends but it’s nothing like before. Hangovers are horrible as you get older so I’m a lot more careful and take it easy. Love me a delicious cocktail though. I’ll continue to enjoy them every once in a while.

I have a friend who never really stopped drinking and drinks all the time. He’s a high end mixologist in a swanky cocktail joint though so he’s always around it. Seems healthy enough but I know it’s slowly catching up with him. Drinks like 3 days a week minimum. Crazy. I try to tell him to chill out but he doesn’t listen. Nothing I can really do about it.

Health is wealth friends. Do your body right and it loves you back.

Salute to the sober brehs, but I gotta ask.......how hard were some of y'all drinking...
-I was a fully functional alcoholic & my tolerance was on another level. My "normal" state was around 3x the legal limit. Too long lower than that & withdrawal started to set in. I'd keep a 1.75 liter bottle of vodka & a case of shots to make sure I was good & that was on top of whatever I was actually drinking that day. Chick I was seeing started to refer to me taking a drink as taking my medicine.
...I'm not gonna quit for good but I'm never drinking like that again
-This is where I'm currently at after getting my pancreas to act right.

ALcohol= Ethanol=Carcinogenic

The consumption of alcoholic beverages has been classified as carcinogenic to humans by the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) since 1988. More recently, in 2010, ethanol as the major constituent of alcoholic beverages and its metabolite acetaldehyde were also classified as carcinogenic to humans.

Carcinogenic compounds in alcoholic beverages: an update - PubMed.
