Above the fray.
what kind of RIGHT TO RETURN program (see Jewish/Israel Right to Return program for example) does Nigeria (or any W. African country) have for its forgotten sons and daughters?

After the Haitian earthquake....a West African country sent for Haitian students and gave them scholarships to attend school there. It was a great gesture of solidarity and they might have even made comments about "their children returning home" I forget the name of the country right now but I was genuinely touched to see the story.

It was Senegal

Some Hausa elites believe any agitation is a drumbeat for war. Hence why Uwazurike, who was Gandhian in terms of philosophy, was imprisoned and tortured for years.

It doesn't matter what we say, to be honest. Anything we say is "War"

Yea Im ignorant of this situation but im sure dude knew the consequences....so things have to be so bad for THEM that he has to take a strong stand like a Malcolm x....even though you know the oppressor will burn and Lynch entire black communities...

I ask these questions of anybody who feels like answering them objectively . I recognize that people are DYING, but I'd like to see how Nigerans agree or disagree about the root of the issues.

Igbos and Yorubas, although there are many tribes inbetween live amongst each other and intermarry a lot...

i know in lagos a lot of Igbo people speak yoruba better than Igbo ....

the north of the country is mostly muslim (the hausa) and the south is mostly Christian Yorubas, Igbos and hundreds of other tribes inbetween

The issue really deep down has to do with money, power and politics ....

on a day to day basis people go about there business , shyt just started to pop off when Boko Haram started burning Churches up North , a lot of Christians felt that the government wasnt doing enough and that in itself caused tensions ... also there has never been an Igbo president so a lot of Igbo people felt marginalised by the North

Im just talking about recent years , not the cicvil war ....

my tribe is Yoruba, we are in a unique position because while Igbos are almost all christian and hausas are almost all muslim we are about 50% christian 50% muslim, it is very common to have muslims and christians in the same family, most yorubas still practice native religious practices and customs as well

my dads brother is a muslim, and my brothers wife is muslim while we are christians ... because of this Yorubas are extremely tolerant when it comes to religion ... to Yorubas its native tradition and custom first religion second, we practice all our native customs and festivals regardless of what religious denomination we are

From our point of view we see things in practical terms , for the most part Northerners have held the presidency...... but the most underdeveloped region of the country is the North .... for all there power they have done nothing with it

The bottom line is, the big boys at the top just want a bigger slice of the cake .... its all smoke and mirrors

Nigeria doesn't have it and yet they pay for Nigerians to attend pilgrimages to Mecca and to Jerusalem

not to derail this thread but Jerusalem?????

I know that Islam has had a foothold in Nigeria for centuries, but please tell me that there don't exist one of these "lost Israel tribes of Jews" in Nigeria.

Is that who goes on state sponsored pilgrimages to Jerusalem or is it the Christians?]

Azikiwe was President in the First Republic. There are a lot of Christians in the North. Chibok, for example, was a Christian town.

To be honest the harsh rhetoric is needed, igbo people are too soft, any angle where their could be a possibility of a restructuring of Nigeria they will take it.

If nnamdi took a soft approach, it would have yielded the same result because it is all about the empowering of the average igbo person, specifically in south East nigeria.

As far as I'm concerned not every igbo person can escape to london, to America, to lagos or abuja it is not possible. In terms of other ethnic they've shown who they are in the past and they have no reason to change. So I implore the international community to help, because we are dealing with animals.

His problem was that he took the hard approach and talked war and wasnt ready for the results ....

Which was stupid ..... look at the history of Nigerian government and agitators

They will either try and buy you off like they did to the militants or they will slaughter you ......

If you say harsh rhetoric was needed then fine..... my issue was that he should have known what would come after the harsh rhetoric

he should have seen what would come after ....

Im just pissed at all the innocent people that have been killed .... and now those soldiers are going to go back to their barracks like nothing happened

Christians were jealous that the states were funding Hajj for wealthy people. So, Christians got their pilgrimages to Israel. There's no Christian sacrament for pilgrimage, it's just a product of Nigeria's sectional politics.

Kill or be killed

That is the nature of Nigeria. Sorrow, tears and blood

The thing is Kanu is a useful tool for a lot of Igbo politicians, they dont support him but because of all the independence agitation there are big moves to restructure allocation of money from central government ..... The restructuring would mean more money coming to Igbo and Yoruba dominated states...

of course none of this money will filter down, it would just mean more money for those Igbo and Yoruba politicians to steal, so for the moment hes serving them a useful purpose..

of course none of them really want a Biafra because their source of income would dry up and I suspect Kanus first rule of business would be to go after them for all the money they have stolen
