They used to dice up cover 2 in the 2000's because there were boss tight ends during the time. Now we mainly only have Kelce.

West coast offenses with tight end and slot WR mismatches kill Cover 2.

Then the Legion of Boom blew up with Cover 3 and more teams countered it with screen passes.

It'll swing around again. Bowers on the Raiders is nice af, they just need one of those Super QB to pair with him in the 2026 or 2027 draft.

Yup. Nobody wanted to run that vs Brady, Manning, Brees, etc. Gronk, Clark, Edelman, Stokley, Welker, etc. used to kill those defenses while Harrison, Wayne, Moss, Owens, Hines Ward, etc. would give the CB's and occupy safety help over the top exposing everything undernearth.

Then they started throwing more exotic blitzes, match zone, etc. until we got Cover 3 which destroyed Manning in the Super Bowl via the Seahawks. Then Mahomes and the Chiefs destroyed teams who were trying to do that. Cover 1 was used by the Patriots a lot as well, but that's because they had cats like Ty Law who can play man straight up which made those Patriots blitzes go crazier. Last year Chiefs ran a lot of Cover 1 as well.

People acting like this vanilla Cover 2 will sustain and kill passing numbers for a decade or something. It'll get hard countered by a bad matchup.

In fact, it's already being countered by teams running the ball more and scoring on the ground

All of a sudden, now you're not supposed to take what the defenses give you? QB's should be forcing passes now?

That's the point though, Dalton just a Journey Man back-up QB at this point and the team looked infinitely better

As they should he's seen every offense and playbook in his career, bryce has had 2 whole new coaching staffs in his 2nd year. Vets are expected to pick up and run, however won't be sustainable
