That’s not a story that carries the two weeks leading to the Super Bowl, and further diluted by chiefs fatigue due them having been there 5 times this decade. I think it will be a huge storyline after the SB is they win, but that’s hasn’t been supporting the run up to the SB

Hmm. So what has fs1 and ESPN been blabbering about?

4 rings plus the skill set moves Mahomes to 2nd best over Montana and Bradshaw....that's the other story line as well.

Then Saquon Barkley restoring the feeling to the RB position is a story line.

That Luka & AD trade was shocking and then Nico's explanation fueled the flames. So of course it trumped the sports world headlines including the Superbowl for a couple days.

TYRONE GA!
with some believing they're a weak opponent for the Chiefs, further adding to a fan fiction conspiracy among a segment of fans that the NFL is tryna “manufacturer” Mahomes as the GOAT or surpass Brady who many consider to be the GOAT.

:mjpls: Especially with the state of politics right now

The media / league hate the Eagles. Constantly doubt and downplay them and make them, particularly Jalen Hurts and Nick Sirianni, targets for hatred by unaffiliated fans who watch the talking head shows.

Then you've got Team MAGA / Team Swiftie which everyone is tired of at this point. No actual football really wants them to win again and the inherent contradiction between MAGA and Taylor mean that its hard for unaffiliated/casual fans to get really excited about the Chiefs.

So no one wants the Eagles to win. And no one wants the Chiefs to win. Not surprised by the lack of hype.

They still gonna watch the game though.

To be fair, NBA news especially trade talk always creates a huge buzz more than any regular season NBA matchup. A lot of people are saying this Luka trade is the the biggest trade in NBA history so it makes sense. This trade talk will have more people enaged in social media than the NBA Finals :yeshrug:
That trade alone Thanos'ed sports media last weekend.

The NBA should move the trade deadline to the Sunday before the Super Bowl permanently

Trade deadline news is now a ratings measure? The only thing that matters are the ratings for the actual games.

Y'all realize that nothing is going on NFL wise from the conference championship games until the Super Bowl. There's nothing to talk about. We know the matchups. There's no surprises. Everyone is waiting to watch the game.

The NBA/NFL debate is The Coliseum's console wars. We all know the NFL is the ratings king so there's nothing to debate.

We'll up this thread once the ratings drop.

Not even sure the accuracy of NBA ratings these days. I keep it on as background noise out of habit from years past and look at the halftime show. Then I'll get some NBA info from YouTubers regurgitating all the current events, lol. Playoff time last year it was hard to watch teams outside Mavs (watch Luka & Kyrie cook) & Nuggets for me.

All that high screen action by essentially every team is mind numbing. This modern non stop high screen action makes Stockton and Malone pick & roll look much more interesting than it was real time, haha.

Are folks really pretending we've paid attention to Super Bowl week since Marshawn said he was only there to not get fined so they can give the NBA a fake W?

The whole premise of this is crazy. Outside of Marshawn, people stopped caring about media week when they started letting anyone get a media pass about 15 years ago.

You know when it’s Super Bowl week usually storylines surface past the dedicated sports channels, it has not to the same degree this year. But you seem to consume a lot of sports talk - I don’t since espn went MAGA - so of course you’re sitting here feeling like it has the same level of coverage
