Many of the comments show a lack of understanding of basic economics.
The NFL Players Association freely negotiated the CBA with the league. The NFLPA doesn’t ask for contracts to be fully guaranteed because that would mean more money for lower quality players but less money for higher quality players. For example, Drew Brees or Aaron Rodgers can get the size contracts they do because their teams know that they can always cut lesser players to fund payments to Brees and Rodgers. If teams have to pay more to players like Mathias Kiwanuka then they will pay less to superstars.
What many people commenting in this thread don’t understand is that the total amount paid to the players as a whole won’t change, just the amount paid to lower quality players.
hard to sell an argument of something being criminal towards one party when they look over, agree to, and sign said contractAny system in which contacts can be terminated without a buyout is criminal in my opinion.
When one entity is a monopoly, it definitely can be. How exactly do you think unions got started?hard to sell an argument of something being criminal towards one party when they look over, agree to, and sign said contract
whats stopping a player from signing a bunch of one year deals? The NFL is the only league where every year you see players that make the Pro Bowl or be All-Pro and then are cut the following offseason without receiving any buyout whatsoever.
NFL contracts (Unless you're a QB) are written on toilet paper. Kiwanuka is right. The NFL might as well make all non-rookie contracts and non-QB contracts officially one year deals. Because that's all they are.

I agree with you about how some athletes act like brats but football is more contact/strain to a body and the nfl make like billions more than the other professionals sports, I think they should get rid of the capThere is no way anyone outside of qb will have a fully guaranteed contract. The risk for injury is too high. Player movement is what makes the nfl so special. NBA and baseball players with long guaranteed contracts act like spoiled brats. You have no power over them. The nfl will never relinquish the power they have over the players.
players can absolutely sign one year deals. nothing is stopping them. its called negotiating. i have zero sympathy for guys who agree to terms of a deal, then whine about how shytty they think they have it years after the fact. they had all the leverage in the holdout a couple years back, and decided not to change shyt. then get mad years later. what kinda logic is thatUh...no team offering that player a one year deal for one...
If there is one sport were you should never...ever...ever...sacrifice money to help the team win...it's the NFL...
Pretty much after you get your guaranteed money you are gone...
tell that to the players who started the NFL. players getting whinier every year, like they were forced to play pro ball.I agree with you about how some athletes act like brats but football is more contact/strain to a body and the nfl make like billions more than the other professionals sports, I think they should get rid of the cap
