There is something i liked about this flick just as much as I liked in Hell or High Water: Using the city as a character and having it say so much without being overt. Much like that part of Texas, this part of Detroit was clearly hammered by the recession and it plays a part in character motivations and how far they're willing to go. There's also a nice satirization of the media and our country in general in how we cover vets and those who've served, saying that they're beyond reproach. Pretty smart shyt in a movie that won't get a lot of credit for it
