i wonder what pushed kendrick to this point

i mean like his frustration with the industry

we heard it on each song he dropped during the beef

If you slaving away in a studio writing your own raps meticulously crafting songs and gotta hear people criticizing you for not releasing enough content meanwhile these other guys employing a team of ghostwriters, ghostproducers, and even ghost-engineers while they sit back texting 14 year old girls and impregnating porn actresses and get to be considered your peers you’d eventually get sick of the circus too.

This shyt is genuinely blowing my mind. It's to the point where if these nikkas have to use even the slightest bit of critical thinking skills the song is "mid" or "boring." Punchlines and bars have to be right on the nose for these goofy ass nikkas to enjoy it.

Ironically enough, this is a part of people's issue with Drake and the era he ushered in. Bullshyt music with no substance has become such the norm that rappers are accused of being fake deep and trying too hard for putting effort into their art. All because THEY don't "get it." I don't understand these nikkas man.

I understand why the INDUSTRY wants to reduce music to a stack-em-high, sell-em-cheap commodity when actual art takes time and inspiration to make, but the CONSUMERS?!

People are lost.

Acting like the pictures that come in Ikea frames are Basquiats because they sell millions.

He's always had bars for the industry (and establishment/government at large) to be fair.

No conspiracy, my fate is inevitable
They play musical chairs, once I'm on that pedestal
Frightening, so fukking frightening
Enough to drive a man insane, a woman insane
The reason Lauryn Hill don't sing or Kurt Cobain
Loaded that clip and then said bang

I feel like the big change is setting up pglang has given him armour outside of the traditional industry structures that keep everyone else in line - he can fire live rounds out in the open and without actively trying to assassinate him, nobody can do shyt about it anymore.
