This is unfortunate but you need to fully understand contracts and the ramifications before you sign them. It sounds like a shytty deal but it is one he signed and just because you get the short end of the stick does not mean you are getting jerked. Hopefully he can get something out of this but i doubt it.

Plenty. Look at how much money the marvel movies made Disney and take a gander at the contacts of the non Downey Jr stars. Chris evans made 300k to be captain America. Thor made 200k his first Thor movie. Gal Gadot made 300k for Wonder Woman :heh: That’s how contracts work. You are bound by what you agreed to. Whether it’s student loans you owe back and now want handouts to cover, or you don’t like the earnings and stipulations about your likeness after you signed it away in writing.

I get what your saying but the show is named chappelle show for a reason them marvel movies aint named after gal gadot and Chris Evans Dave did a lot of work created the skits and everything while those actors were casted for there roles they was involved but not as much as Dave in his work

....
It's not back stabbing...it's an agreed upon contract...

If I sign a contract that says a company can use my name and likeness forever...I expect them to use my name or likeness... forever...

Company Central is still rolling in money over the chapelle show...so no...they actually didn't do bad business...

I swear Dave Chapelle is turning into for black people what Donald Trump turned into for white people...

Monique and Dave are two different storeis.

Monique wanted Netflix to give her money for a show that shyt hasn’t done yet. There was no contract she wanted more money.

Dave wants money for a show he created is out there and isn’t getting paid from.

Has Monique said something about the Parkers recently that I am not aware of ?

you shouldn’t have had to type this. Any idiot should understand the differences

The amount of stupidity in these tweets. Do they not understand the difference between someone asking you to boycott their show and the other asking you to boycott a WHOLE streaming service?:why:

Monique wanted dough for something most of us weren't checking for. Chappelle wants his money from a show that has been huge in the culture for damn near 20 years at this point and is the most popular comedian in the country at this point. This ain't apples to oranges its apples to wood chips

basically.

they don’t wanna throw anything murky in that working relationship so why not bow to his request when you know he’s the cash cow right now for the network.

And I high key think Dave is embarrassed about the show at this point. He himself told Okrah that he didn’t seem socially irresponsible shyt on that show, a lot which isn’t aging well. He will never live down the fact that these CACs weren’t laughing with him all along. The second he dipped, the suits looked for the next thing and it came in the form of Carlos Mencia along with Key and Peele. Clearly someone at the network back then overlooked Kevin Hart

Either way, Dave is lucky on this one. Netflix clearly didn’t wanna do it but they are thinking bigger and they know Dave has 2-4 more bankable specials in him. Play the long game because anyone outside of him, Seinfeld and maybe Kevin would’ve been told to eat a dikk because they signed a contract.

No WAY Seinfeld’s unfunny ass would have been told to eat a dikk. He’s got power and lots of leverage in the industry

There are no "i am desperate and will do anything to make it" clauses in contracts that you sign that null and void anything you feel is negative. He did not have to sign it but he chose so knowing the terms so i can get being angry, but CC is not screwing him.

Of course they are screwing him.... just because his sig is on a piece of paper doesn’t negate that..... here is the rub, they wouldn’t have even presented a contract like that to an up and coming Seinfeld

The main reason everyone threw Monique in the bushes is because her strategy was to bring others down to get her point across.

She specifically questioned why Chappelle and Rock get to make so and so money while she couldn’t, completely ignoring the fact her draw is not even in the same stratosphere as theirs making the gender difference irrelevant

Understandable but contracts are not about what is fair but what both parties agreed to. He should of thought about this before signing regardless of his situation back then. If they are not following through on their contractual obligations then CC should be roasted, but if they are then there is nothing wrong.

Whole thing went over your head, the point he was making is that the lawyers agents owners are all in it together. It's a hustle, just like record lables paying for lawyers to represent artists, then the artists finding out the lawyers did deals in favor of the labels instead of their client. The game isn't fair, the people in power cheat, and that's not good business. Streaming didn't even exist then, selling streaming right should be negotiated in good faith, not just assumed under 20 year old contracts.

And besides, if you're an "entertainment lawyer" in Hollywood, who does it serve you long term to be in the good graces of ? CBS/Viacom or 28 year old from DC who made a weed movie ? They're not going to risk upsetting the largest media company in America over a comedy central sketch show. The game is always rigged.

He negotiated a new deal before the 3rd season, but left before finishing it.

So if he agreed to keep the show going, safe to assume he had a decent deal as planned. And he sort of confirms it when he talks about the reason he left. I never heard him say it was business but more so he felt some way at people laughing too hard at his c00n jokes :dead::dead::dead: Dave a legend.
