More like cynicism and dog whistling will be the death of gaming.

People are always thinking every game they play needs to be some transcendent experience. Nah, man. Some of the most fun games are low-key not even that great. GTA 3 was but ugly and was janky AF to play. But the ideas were there and the world was fun, so people looked past it.

Cyberpunk got a lot of flack at launch, and rightfully so. However, SO many people put the game down after 3 hours rushing the main story and didn't dive into the world at all. The foundation of the world and the writing was some of the best in gaming, even with the technical issues. But you didn't discover that if all you did was watch the bellyaching on YouTube and Twitch.

Everything now has to be "content" and I hate that shyt. Just be honest about the game and even if you like a "bad" game. That's cool too.

Breh that's where I'm at with Starfield. Like I haven't even touch the main mission stuff. I have been in shootouts with pirates, had gang ties, ran contraband, helped out pirates, got the drop on some oops, and had a crew of tings and one bruv off the strength of stumbling upon. LIKE BREH, THE GAME GIVES YOU MISSIONS LIKE IT'S CANDY! :why:

WTF does content mean, when that's all we are getting. CONTENT!

If anything, a 2 hour game seems more fulfilling than these netflix ass open world games. But I digress.

Yeah, some of my favorite games lately have been small. I played this one jawn called Roller Drome and put like 30 hours into that shyt. It was just Tony Hawk with guns...

Man Gamepass is a plug for short spell memorable games. Just the other week, I played "Return to Eden". While it was a walking sim, it had a compelling story and humor to go along with how short it was.

Was pretty surprised by the game :ehh:

Another thing is we’re lucky to be in a place where devs have the ability to improve a game after a lackluster release.

It sucks to see online discourse about something like Diablo 4 or Cyberpunk if you’re a fan, but if devs take that feedback and improve the game it’s a win win situation (especially with free updates).

Still sucks that we get half assed games at release, but I’ll cut the devs some slack if they continue to work on the issues

Once I started hearing gamers complaining about big t*ts in video games that’s when I knew it was too far gone. Gamers who are chronically online are sick in the head.
They complain when female characters dress too sexy

At this point the only "review" I check for are Digital Foundry PC reviews. They only focus on the technical aspects of the game and points out any bugs or performance issues that need to be addressed by the developers.

Games like CP2077 and NMS got immunity due to the backlash beforehand, but the negative tones in general for anything gaming just screams follower mentality. It doesn't help when you have influencers playing follower, instead of leader.

In fairness...anything with this much money flowing around is going to end up having factions competing to push the needle one way or the other. I get the incentive, but strictly from a consumer standpoint I'm going to end up filtering all that right out. Make good games, leave out the storefronts and platforms and pitches toward gambling addictions, and leave me to it. I'll make up my own mind.

I'll contentedly play a Kena or Ori game and ignore all the other jazz-hands stuff.

The "before you buy" dudes usually on point with their content. Also I enjoy their top ten lists.

This is how I feel when I read the general discourse about gaming these days. In particular I've been lurking stuff for Cities Skylines 2 and Kerbal Space Program 2. You would have thought these developers promised to buy them a puppy then threw it off a cliff in front of them :skip: . Like y'all can't just... go find other shyt to do until the game is at a state in which you want to play it? I know the irony in this statement, but I don't like how people think their opinions matter - or at least matter to others - especially when they're belligerent about it.

Breh the thing that messes me up about KSP2 is the fact that it's early access and these entitled whiners bytching about it having early access problems.

Cities Skylines 2 no different from when CS1 dropped and that game had to take a NASA computer to get it up and running. Nevermind, the nickel and dining from Paradox.

It's like folks want the games to perfect, despite the fact that even games back in the days had updates aka "greatest hits collection" .

On top of that ANY sort of city builder game lives and dies by its mod community. CS1 didn't get truly fun until about 3 years in when shyt like Plopable RICO and Road Anarchy were stable and on the mod libraries.

Right? And I'm sitting here thinking that maybe I was the a$$hole for expecting early access issues with an early access title :skip: . That's to say nothing of the whole $50 price tag debacle. If you're mad and hurting over $50 right now, you about to be big mad and down bad once Take Two charges $70 at the 1.0 launch.

Rollerdrome is a game that if we got in the mid 2000’s we would be calling it one of the low key GOATS and begging the Devs to bring it back.
