So there a job out there you can get where you can make $100-$300ms, you don’t have to come to work everyday, however you perform you still get paid, and you can even break the rules if you want. This job also calls itself a group of the best on Earth but also celebrates the a kid who would struggle being the best in all of high school if he teleported back to high school today.

MOST of us would barely care to do our jobs if we made that deal 500k lmao

You can chose to watch what you enjoy about the nba instead of hanging out in your echo chamber of how the game is solved or dying.

Jalen Green
Demar Derozan
Anthony Edwards (even though he is shooting a lot of 3s, his game is still aesthetic)
Brandon Ingram
Anthony Davis
Cam Thomas
Ja Morant
Jaylen Brown
Kyrie Irving

Lots of players still provide that nostalgic type of basketball you like

My Pops Forever RIP
At least with baseball the league is trying to figure out a way to create ball in play game again
the baseball issue is that both sides think the other side got too good at what they do to go backwards. Pitchers think they can't get any hitter out 3 times in a row. Hitters think pitchers throw such unhittable pitches that they're reduced to praying they run into one and drive it 420 feet.

Last year it was "how do we get hitters to do something other than walk, strike out or homer?"

This year it's "how do we get starters to pitch deep again?"

Neither side will ever be happy.

Back to "bad ratings" talk again after the league just signed the biggest TV deal in their history :heh:
Uh if the viewership continues declining like this and the networks struggle to recoup via advertisers, those deals are in trouble. It’s still a major red flag that Mark Cuban sold his majority stake. He also sold his tech company at the peak of the dot com bubble before it went bust.

If professional basketball as a whole doesn't change its structure in the 2030s, then it's going to see a global decline. The NBA will decline either way.

NBA makes too much money that incentivizes its mediocrity. Meanwhile, the sport collectively is too NBA-centric. People don't even give a fukk about the FIBA World Cup because the NBA doesn't want it to get any shine. There's no Club World Cup either because the NBA doesn't want to play. Nobody outside Europe watches the EuroLeague. Europeans barely watch the FIBA Champions League.

There's too many good basketball players that never get a shot or who get cut by the NBA. It's a small pool of players and Jewish executives making all the money. Everything about the sport seems lopsided and unsustainable in its current course.

I came across a random YouTube comment recently regarding this subject and it hit me like a bag of bricks.....the person said that the "seriousness" of the game no longer exists.

My mind immediately went to the legendary NBA On NBC theme when I read it......now we get generic trap beats every commercial break...the game is geared too much towards the hiphop/ street crowd compared to "back in the days" assuming that most of us are atleast 35.

I don't know how to explain it (guess you gotta be a certain age to understand) but the NBA overall used to have a more "business-like" and "serious" atmosphere/energy about it.

U just talkin bout Stern era that’s all

Stern was the best commissioner in sports, he kept shyt in check. He was fining the Spurs for load management, made sure nikkas came to the game wearing business attire, and blocked the CP3 trade to the Lakers which in turn made 3 franchises somewhat watchable

Silver has the NBA lookin kinda crazy rn, the NBA finals which is supposed to be the pinnacle of the sport; looks no different from a regular playoff game. The in season tournament on the other hand looks like the actual NBA finals though.

Silver has geared the NBA too much to the content creation, click bait era of the internet. Players do whatever they want, play when they want and still get max deals for it.

NBA is by far the worst ran league, they get away with a lot due to the popularity of basketball and the legacy the league has

I don’t know if it’s not connecting in your mind, but the resaons why those games in the 90s seemed more serious was : a)you were a kid and coming of age b)there were nowhere near as many NBA Games for you to watch back then versus now.

I used to hate baby boomer sports journalists lamenting about sports not being the same as their childhood. It’s crazy seeing Coli posters become that in real time.

Because everything seems serious when you’re a child.

The All-Star games were taken a little more seriously. Were they playing defense every possession, no.. but they were playing a lot more defense than present day
The all star game was never taken serously. Other than ‘92, ‘01, and a couple other years, it was seen as a joke.

The dunk contest was canceled for 2 seasons in the ‘90s. :mjlol:

Nothing has changed except aging millennials are hitting middle age and cant let go of their childhood. They’re worse than boomers at this point.
